This may just be me, but during the fight did any of you get the feeling that Roy Jones Jr. was wondering about the path he didn't take? Its seemed to me RJJ was sizing up how effective Haye was when he moved and when he decided to throw (of course that meant putting the blinders on a bit) call it a hunch but I think Roy (crazy as he is these days) fancied his chances vs Wladimir after watching that fight.
To be fair I'd rather listen to a boxer talking than a glorified spectator like Lampley etc anyday... like George, Roy can wear thin after a while... but most commentators piss me off from the get go.
Honestly, I'd much rather see Roy behind a mic than in a ring nowdays anyway (just as long as he's not fucking rapping!!)
To be honest watching Wlad last week has got me thinking about how the Roy who completely shut Ruiz out would have done. I'd give him a shout. I think he'd be more effective at getting in and out than Haye was and would hopefully take the risk of throwing in bunches too.
Not sure about the size as he is a touch smaller than Haye was, but Haye boxed scared and even still, Wlad was very tentative. If Roy could sting him a few times he might get his respect.
The advantage he'd have had over Haye was that I don't think he'd have thought that he could get Wlad out of there in one shot so wouldn't have spent about 95% of the fight waiting to land one.
To be fair, I finally got my girlfriend to watch the fighter with me last night... Roy's voice is used in it quite a lot... and by the end of it I was thinking "shut the fuck up roy!!" hehe![]()
If you've ever seen 'I-Spy' with Owen Wilson and Eddie Murphy, Eddie's character 'Kelly Robinson' is a dead ringer for a Prime Roy Jones Jr..
He speaks about himself in the 3rd person, he has very quick clever insults for his opponent, and is completely unaware of anything going on that doesn't involve him.
I loved that movie for Murphy's performance alone...hilarious.
That being said, I have a hard time listening to Roy when he's talking about another fighter. It would be like asking Picasso his opinion on Salvador Dali or whoever else. Roy competed with the highest level of skill in a sport where 1 mistake ends a fight and can ruin a career and he did it so effortlessly for so long, I just think every fighter he sees he judges too harshly or judges in comparison to himself.
Also I think there are fighters that know the sport that aren't great communicators and guys that are entertaining to listen to but aren't good at giving the insight into the sport...hell its hard to find a good entertaining fighter that can do color commentary. Shane Mosley might be one I'd look at in the future, I've heard Tarver is good although I don't like him, and hell Foreman does a decent job.

I'm just messing around and don't take this stuff serious as you do.
Serious question though. Did you threaten DannyG or whatever or stalk the guy on other places? Some people just take the internet a little too serious don't they?
Kind of like Leftylee when he threatened to kill jtrock's wife and kids? Some people really need help and it ain't me bro.![]()
rofl... I'd forgoten all about that loser. Threaten him? I've never wasted my time threatening somebody from behind a keyboard. Completely pointless... Have a little sense please.
It went about as far as him commenting all over my youtube videos and messaging me every other month when he was bored and fancied a go at trolling.
Why are we talking about him exactly? Bizzare.

It's called deflecting an argument.
Anyway, despite the toe thing which was only briefly said in the immediate aftermath (which should be excused, anyone who's competed knows that regardless of result you're buzzing with adrenaline & are looking to explain the loss to yourself as much as anything). He's come out on Monday & Booth on Thursday & been very honest about the loss & full of complete credit for Wlad. I've spoken to people very close to Haye about it & there's no illusions about what happened.
I don't remember any excuses from Hamed either, but that might be my memory. Hatton is the only one who took an excuse & ran & ran with it, but even he seems to accept now that the two guys who beat him were just that much better. I mean I can think of a number of other nationalist fan groups who have excuses aplenty for 'their' fighters.
