    Default Murray - Mitchell

I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk about this fight. I didn't even know it was happening until I saw it in this weeks schedule of fights in the PC. I have no idea who will win, though I'm leaning towards Murray because of Mitchell's well-publicized problems and the shit-kicking he took from Katsidis, and I think this has the potential to be an outstanding fight.

I'm curious to hear what you guys - especially the Brits who have obviously seen more of both fighters than the rest of us - this about this fight.

There both pretty powerful punchers who throw lots of nasty heavy body shots, im sure it will be a very aggressive toe to toe scrap, alot of people seem to be writing mitchell off after the katsidis fight, i think we need to remember katsidis is world class and altough murrays 31-0 mitchell had the same record before the katsidis fight, murray has never been in with anyone the same class as katsidis, although dont get me wrong, i rate murray very highly i was eager to see him box kahn at lightweight but unfortunatly that never came off as warren had the bubble wrap out 4 kahn after the prescott fight! I think its a 50/50 fight abd cant wait to see the outcome?!?

John Murray doesn't deal well with movers, i remember he got a gift decision. Off a fighter with a losing record he has improved since that. But he is still very one dimensional, and if Kevin Mitchell can keep on his bike and give him angles like he did vs Breidis Prescott.

I think he could pull it out, but too me Kevin Mitchell does look a bit vulnerable. And John Murray is alot more sturdier, so his constant pressure could break down Kevin Mitchell. But he doesn't hit as hard as Michael Katsidis.

I think John Murray is the favourite, especially because as you said Kevin Mitchells's problem's outside the ring. But i still think it is quite an even match up.

Really looking forward to this one, I expect Mitchell to box well early on and then Murray to come on in the later rounds after weathering a few tasty shots from Mitchell, I like both fighters so I wont be cheering on anyone in particular, it should be a great scrap and a credit to British boxing as for a prediction Murray on points in a close scrap.

I've seen Mitchell fight twice (Prescott, Katsidis) and I don't think I've ever seen Murray fight, but from what I know about their styles/previous fights I would think that Mitchell's style would be all wrong for Murray. However, give his problems with drugs and booze outside of the ring, his long layoff, and the fact that he has a court day a week before the fight I keep thinking that everything outside the ring might lead to Mitchell's downfall. I could also see Murray chasing down Mitchell like Katsidis did and stopping him as I think Mitchell's chin looked very soft in the Katsidis fight.

It's one of the most intriguing fights of the year IMO.

This fight was postponed from last week and there are rumors Mitchell is not fit or up for it.

If everything was kosher, it would be a fantastic fight. I reckon Mitchell would outbox Murray in a classic. But hearing the current reports on him, I just hope he turns up.

Three other cracking fights on the night. Gavin-Woodhouse have been slagging each other off on another site, Burns-Cook should be close, and Bellew-McKenzie had 50 knockdowns last time. Great stuff.

That's too bad about Mitchell if true. Do you know how serious the charges against him are?

Sounds like a great card. Which sucks because I won't be able to watch them as I'll be in Vancouver signing the lease for our new place. I also missed Wlad - Haye because of this moving bullshit.

Jaz was the first to let on about Mitchells problems. All turned out true. The inside reports make it sound as though he's turning up for a payday and is ruined since the Katsidis loss. Still you never know with this boxing lark...

Good luck with the new place

If that's the case, it might be smart for me to put a few bucks on a Murray TKO victory. Then again, perhaps this is just another of Jaz's many plots to bring down the white man.

its a myth that murray got a gift descision in that fight against mohammad al whatever he was called (jim whatt sounding off)

yes it wasnt a great performance but he deserved to win, check it out on you tube

anyway, i would probably lean towards mitchell in what would probably be a war (like someone else has already pointed out) but if he is even slightly off pomp then i would say murray stops him

i might be camping on saturday night, but the weather may have saved my bacon as it ios forecast heavy rain so i might get to watch it

Even I couldn't fuck up Mitchell as much as he's tried to fuck himself up in the last 18 months. Look at a picture of him after the Prescott fight & now. He's aged about 10 years in that time. He's got like some anti-oil of olay shit.

I really don't rate Murray highly at all, I think he's been very well matched by Steve Wood & Hennessy on the way up & despite all the criticism of Warren, he does make sure his guys generally get the right challenges to improve them.

If this was even the shoddy, drunk Mitchell that turned up for the Kats fight, I'd pick him. It's not. He's spent a year very publicly (in the London boxing scene anyway) blowing obscene amounts of cash on drink & drugs. He's been getting fucked up in sparring by guys who really shouldn't be doing so. The guy who lives the life will take it. Murray in 7.

Could not agree any more , everything you have said is spot on , Mitchell has fucked himself up big time by acting like a arse , boxing careers are very short and extremely hard ,he is wasting what talent he has by pissing it up the wall, he needs to get his house in order after he loses to Murray or his career is over . Murray TKO rd 10 .

The whole card is great. The Bellew fight will be full of fireworks.

Gavin has a tough test and if course the world title fight for Burns.

Might as well change this to the sat night card thread.

But to answer the question, I can't see past Murray, maybe the Katsidis fight clouds my judgement, but Murray by KO for me.

How dyou know this about Mitchell? Are you mates with boxers in his gym or anything? I just would like to know if this is hearsay or if you actually are speaking the truth from being in the know cos I quite fancy Murray for this one myself I already have a bet on him

To be quite honest mate, it's pretty much public knowledge among the London clubs. I heard from a fella at the Repton (not Mitchell's old club, he boxed for West Ham), but I trust that person not to spread unkind rumours. But, tbh mate everyone knows. He made no secret of it, at least after the Katsidis fight & I've heard it discussed by at least half a dozen people who definitely would know. It's a shame because he was a nice talent & what a boost it would've been for the guys at West Ham, of whom there's at least a couple I can think of who look like they could make excellent pros.
