Wladimir came to fight which is why he spent his time stalking Haye down. Did Wlad stand toe to toe with David? No...#1 that's not Wlad's style but #2 Haye wouldn't have returned the favor. The issue people have with Wlad's defense is simply this he's a big guy and usually instead of just blocking a punch he'll block and move sometimes to try and set up a counter punch and its odd seeing a guy who is 6'7 jump back or tie up when a fighter gets inside (although Lewis and Ali did the same fucking thing, but I digress). Did Wlad let his hands go enough? No, I don't think he did, but part of that comes from Wlad being around so long (56 wins now) that he knows what he has to do to win rounds, certainly he would have liked the KO, but he couldn't make Haye stand still to get it.
At the end of the day Wlad is THE Champion and it was Haye's job to take the belts off of him...and all I can say for Haye's effort is: for a guy with a broken toe he certainly ran well enough.
Who says we won't have excitement? I'm happy every time the Klitschko's fight, they are great champions. As for the division as a whole, it'll always be interesting and there will always be good fights out there to be made. Right now if Arreola doesn't fight Wlad then an Arreola-Stiverne fight would be a hell of a brawl! Boytsov is a good action fighter, a little small for heavyweight but a good fighter. Povetkin needs to step up, I think a match vs Dimitrenko would be ok. The division has never been only about 1 or 2 guys...though Wlad and Vitali are head and shoulders above their competition.
