Just watched the final round on youtube, not great quality but clear enough. Green just had the look of a fighter who wasn't fit and from other comments on the thread perhaps he just wasn't up for it, or had a problem in training or perhaps Tarver is just the better man who knows
Good win for Tarver. The cruiserweight division is weak as piss right now. I reckon he has a good shot at winning a belt or two.
I must disagree once again, Mr. Baggins. Danny Green was by far the weakest belt holder at cruiserweight. I'd be surprised if Tarver beat Huck or Cunningham, but it would spark my interest. I bet Huck loves that Tarver won and that fight gets made fast even though he just joined the division, Tarver is already the biggest name in the division.
I would have been quite surprised if there was any other result honestly. Danny Green was never half the fighter Tarver was, and no matter how past it Antonio may have been he's always taken a great shot, this wasn't going to be another Roy Jones incident.
Green stacked on the weight, why he has weighed in some 20lbs heavier than when he fought Roy Jones jr in 2009 is beyond belief? That's just a 38 year old man becoming fat and lazy approaching middle age! Tarver looked in far better shape and was switched on from the the beginning, Green couldn't land a punch on Tarver because his 14 chins got in the way! Green still had the power and if he was in any shape at all he might have got away with a win, as it was he deserved to lose and he needs to sack his dietician and physical trainers if he is to continue. Tarver's team on the other hand were well prepared and did their homework, most of all they had their fighter in excellent physical condition.
Wasn't Green close to retirement a while ago after needing an operation or something? Good for Tarver getting the win Green only has himself to blame i think after his recent success he might have been partying harder than normal too and enjoying the limelight.
Retirement next?
