If Championship fights were 4 rounds he'd potentially be an all time great! He had the potential to be truly elite and before the Tszyu fight many saw him as the next big thing. Super fast with good power. If he had a better boxing brain, and maybe smarter management he could have been one of the best of his generation.

A grade talent, D grade mind. Not quite elite.

No but he was early 2000 and when he became Welterweight king.

Judah always had the physical tools to be an elite boxer, but his well-known lack of mental toughness has kept him from realizing that potential. For me, he's probably the best example of a "could-have-been" boxer.

I do find myself rooting for him in the latter stage of his career, primarily because of his involvement with Whitaker. One of my favorite things about this sport is watching someone finally put the pieces together. I doubt that this will be the case here, but it would be great to see Sweet Pea back in the limelight, changing roles.

lol. I did feel like a moron making this thread but it turns out more people think he's elite than i expected.

It all really depends on what "elite" means to you in boxing.

To me, Judah dreams of being elite.
Well that's because some people are stupid...
Elite is a special group or to belong to something exclusive.
Now ask yourself is Zab on par with Bradley & Khan?
I think Zab is acontender but he is no way shape or form elite.

To me, the elite is the top of the top at a given time, so the elite from an era to the other can vary in term of quality. Is Zab in the elite actually? I'd tend to say he's close to it but that he's 1-2 significant victories to be considered in it. However, I also think that at some point, he used to be part of it, he slightly drifted but he's not far at all to be back in the club again.... would he win these 1-2 significant fights.

A special GROUP is exactly what Zab is a member of. Out of 1440 (courtesy of Bilbo) lightwelters, just about everyone considers him top 5. That means he is amongst the very best boxers on the entire planet operating at 140. You can't get much more ELITE than that.

We'll find out if he's on a par with Khan this weekend. If he wins he'll be unquestionably ranked no.2 and own the IBF and WBA titles at the weight. So even by your standards he will be elite.

If you guy look carefully, the ones who share the same sentiments are the top dogs of our Saddo prediction league.. Take the look at the guys on the top such as Fenster, CutemeMick, and myself.... We know what we're talking about and there's no doubt that Zab is an elite.

He's a top fighter, but not elite. He has lost most of his big fights, but he does have the tools to shock people. He's very good, but probably somewhat past his best. I think he can potentially beat Khan, but he needs to have prepared properly and have a couple of game plans.

    You obviously misread Mick's post.

I think he was before. But not no more. Except for in his head. The Floyd Mayweather fight was his last as an elite fighter. Against Cotto he was already being viewed as a test. Not someone who could beat him.

He could of been an elite but the spinks and baldomir fights flushed him far away, not to mention the Koysta fight.

My vote is - he is not elite.
