Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!
The first Rocky film has some really good lines (as far as I remember) and really as a small scale script that made it big, and with a boxing theme....its classic stuff. Sure there was little of that "I will be back" business But its not easy to speak into the camera with a mouth guard clamped to the teeth anyways.Originally Posted by wacko3205

The first Rocky film was a very good film.
first rocky is the best great story how unknown got the dreamshot something everyman well most would love a chance at i also like rocky 3 because it shows if u dont take every opponent seriously u get ur a** whipped and i liked how he had to change his style to a boxer in order to beat the much stronger opponent
Oh holy shit babe...you really have been sheltered from the good shit.Originally Posted by miles

"YOOOOOOOOOOOO AAAAADDDRRRRIIIIEEENNN"
A very touching moment...
If Rocky had said, in a monotonous Austrian voice "I will be back"...It would have been profoundly bad for the Rocky film....that catchphrase might have sat into Rocky 4 though!![]()

rocky 1 and 2 had some really great lines.
Rocky 1: Rocky says to the bartender and you never took a shot (meaning a shot in life to get to a better place) and he walks away. While rocky's walking away the bartender says you want me toi take a shot i'll take a shot pours some liquor into a shot glass and takes it.
Rocky 2: Gazzo says some along the lines of you need to invest in condominiums and rocky replies i never used them.
they are very good lines and involve a bit of wit.....terminator has some lines but very little wit...Originally Posted by Punisher136
Seeing we are going nostalgic on threads and Rocky, thought I'd get the vote topped up.
Our family had moved to Greater Philly about six months before Rocky came out and you cannot imagine the buzz that film generated there. I still remember the tag line.
Rocky. His whole life was a million to one shot.
I was 13 when it came out and eveyone in my gang was drinking raw eggs
The first one had the best script, Mickey was at his crusty, nasty best and Paulie was the bitter man Rocky could have become. Has Hollywood EVER produced a dumber, sweeter and more lovable hero than Balboa?
II and V just stunk.
IV was watchable
III was GREAT! The conversation between Rocky and Mickey where Mickey tries to quit makes that film.
The last one was surprisingly well done, probably the third best of the series.

I had this discussion with Drago the other day.
A teenager in mid 80s I was obviously blown away by Rocky III and IV which were much more action flicks and defined by their soundtracks. As I got older, and into real boxing, I came to appreciate the first in the series, the characters and how more realistic the fight scenes were !! Rocky II also a decent sequel. Rocky Balboa was also great for nostalgic reasons. Let's not even talk about V.
Though I thing Rocky is the best film the one I enjoy watching the most is II (it does have Round 14 in it at the beginning ;-), for me the 'stay down' scene is one of the greatest movie moments ever.
So for me its 1, 2, 6, 3, 4, 5 (I keep changing my mind between the order 3 and 4 come in)

The first film. The whole thing is an entertaining series but the first film can stand by itself as a classic.
I should have said, for me, I think I'll go with:
4,3,1,2,6,5
I just love the whole Drago thing in 4, the way Rocky must return to hardcore training (including the sit up whilst hanging from upside down from a rafter) the acting was poor, probably the worst of the good ones, but I just loved the cheese of it.
3 is sometimes my favourite, but it was the change to the more commercial side of Rocky which loses it points.
