I'm in two minds. Pac-JMM obviously has two bigger name guys with more of a history, but Mayweather generally sells a bit more in the US on the strength of his name. Then add in that PBF-Ortiz looks like it's going to have the kind of quality undercard we've not seen in awhile. Canelo-Gomez, Morales-Matthysse & Jesse Vargas-Josesito Lopez. The Canelo fight aside, all of these bouts (incl. main event) look like they could go either way.

I'm thinking Mayweather isn't wearing his complete usual bad guy persona with Ortiz. There is more talk about him making a fight with Pacquiao than with Ortiz. It might not do as well as people think.

Mayweather-Ortiz. He has always outsold Pac in like for like fights (ODLH, JMM, Ricky Hatton and SSM) and I see this being similar.

I also have a feeling Pac will struggle with JMM again, he is really susceptible to a good counter puncher IMO and JMM is the second best man in the world at that skill. In fact if JMM was 2 or 3 years younger I think I would go for him to beat Pac.

Mayweather Ortiz PPV will trounce the Pacquiao one on sales. You have two Americans versus two foreign fighters.

Mayweather will get close to 2 million buys imo. It will be a huge fight. I really expect people to buy into it.

Manny maybe half that, we've seen it all before.

    I reckon 900,000-1.1 milliom Manny
    1.8 - 2m+ for Floyd.

It's his most exciting matchup since Oscar imo.

Maybe I'm underselling Manny Marquez a bit. It will probably do more than 1.2, maybe 1.5.

I just guess I'm personally a lot more pumped for the return of Floyd, in what I think is a really interesting matchup.

But I think the Floyd Ortiz fight might be the biggest event of the year. I hope it is, because boxing needs Floyd.

You may find this surprising....According to this article, Mayweather/Ortiz is struggling to sell tickets.

Ticket Sales? (Mayweather vs Ortiz - rows & rows of seats unsold) - Boxing News

for confirmation I did look on ticketmaster and there are scores of tickets available.

To the contrary, pac/marquez on ticketmaster you can't get any seats together other than the 1200 price range.

Seems like the live crowd is far more interested in the pac marquez fight and they haven't even started the real promotional tour, 24/7, etc...

My prediction is pac/marquez outsells mayweather/ortiz in ppvs also.

With regards to filling up the seats, I think Pac-JMM will do better than Mayw-Ortiz. You have to remember that Pac was able to fill up more than 50,000 seats (or was it 40,000, sorry but I'm unable to check without getting out of this page) in the Dallas Arena in his fight with a non-entity (Clottey).

I believe overall, the Mayw-Ortiz fight will generate more money on American soil (including PPV sales) whereas Pac-JMM will fare better worldwide.
