ipad or netbook for travel - advice please (no joke this time its serious question !)

right am going away for two weeks in September for a 'sun and lazing around' holiday. Not done one of those for that long for a very long time. Anyway the hotel has wifi and i can't be offline for 14 days - 7 is manageable.

I really wanted an ipad2 but was put off by the fact it can't play avi files as standard. If like me you don't pay for your movIes then nine times out of ten it'll be in avi format. I'm not certain but I think to play avi files you'll need to convert them first with an app. Somebody else told me you can buy an app that plays avi but I'm not so sure.

Also, the iPad won't play flash videos. Not a major but it pisses me off when on say the BBC Sport website I can't view a post match interview cus it's in Flash. Add to that the cost of an iPad as well!

A net book is less than half the price of an iPad so it's the more economical choice but I doubt you'd get a movies worth of battery life out of one.

Personally even with all the cons I'd still want an IPad they just look the bollox!
