HA I called that, Canelo claims GGG is ducking him
HA I called that, Canelo claims GGG is ducking him
Fucking hell Max is giving him a bit of a grilling here aint he
Regardless of how brave Smith is I think that tonight showed him to be no more than European level, he will be able to mix it at world level but he won't ever be anything more than a tough fight for the elite.
Ah well I've been up for 25 hours now (other than my 90 minute nap at around 10pm) therefore I am going to sign off and get a couple of hours kip.

My bad, guess I thought pretty similar implied something elseIt wasn't hard to see beforehand that Canelo had basically every advantage that would matter, there wasn't any intrigue as to how Smith was going to have to fight and he was outgunned.
I actually give Kellerman some credit for the subtle digs at Oscar(think it's the first time I've seen his stupid grin turn to somthing else on the spot) and pressing the GGG thing in the interview, this is becoming pantomime. "I fear no man", " I don't fuck around"..... Well, prove it.
That was an interesting bout but the better man won. In my opinion, Smith has a style similar to Canelo, same kind of roughness to him BUT he's kind of a category just under him in matter of power and raw talent. Still, a very competitive fighter and he'll have some other cool fights quite soon.

That's the way it is, not the way it ends
Loved the post fight interview, Max was able to press him on the real question and watching him take jabs at Oscar was glorious. We'll be reading Max's sudden resignation letter next week lol
Alvarez says he hurt his hand which is why the fight went as long as it did. I haven't watched it myself yet so I'll reserve my judgement until I see it. Could mean he's not fighting in December or until Cinco de Mayo or 1 year from now. Perhaps they'll use this as an excuse to not fight at all next year, wouldn't surprise me.
So Alvarez hurts his hand fighting a 154 lb'r and cites that as a reason the fight went 9 rounds. GGG literally breaks Brook's face and rates his performance a 3/10.

What I find very strange is the input of Joe Gallagher , Joe is a good trainer with success however like his advice to Scott Quigg against Frampton , his advice is always stay tight / take your time / blah blah blah.
Quigg could have beaten Frampton with a busier work rate , I'm not sure Smith would have won but I was left thinking - Smith is the defending champion and is in there to survive , sums up the value of the WBO belt really.
End of the day Canelo was way better.
I went to bed at 6:30am, at exactly 8:30am my bloody mom decides to phone me up, god damn, I'm gunna be functioning on 2 hours sleep out of two days now
Smith gave it a go but he was a bit out of his depth, ! Canelo had his number Smith was very game, I like Liam hope he can bounce back.
Canelo gets smashed he faces GGG simple he will get taken a part.
How did Canelo look last night ? I just refuse to pay for any Canelo or golden boy fights so didn't see it. Always think canelos overrated hes always way bigger than his opponent but he does go to the body well but apart from that don't think he has much to offer a good boxer who has good movement should always beat him, think his actual boxing skills are overrated and expect him to get exposed again soon
Canelo looked sharp last night, he looked powerful, he was much bigger than Smith again but there isn't much point in talking about that, that's what he does and we shouldn't be surprised when he comes down to the ring at almost 170.
Smith said in the post fight presser that his punches themselves weren't hurting him, he said that he isn't really that big of a puncher, someone else said that but I can't remember who, I remember them saying his punches are not all that powerful but he has brute strength in the ring.
Fair play to Smith as well, he said he couldn't spar for 3 weeks before the fight but that isn't an excuse, if he could have then the fight would have been more competitive but the outcome would have been the same.
Stayed up all night hoping for a miracle, Canelo to big to fast and more skills I new that before hand but still watched hoping that Liam could pull it off at least he earned (sold ) some good money for the belt.
