I don't know about that. The round was over and a minute makes a big difference. Big Ward round, but he was down several points IMO.

From my eye, as I said before the round I thought Kovalev was gassed already. Add all those body shots and the huge right that clearly hurt him badly and I didn't see him getting stronger.

you could claim he was held up by the ropes, i think kovalev fucked himself there he was hurting from body shots and was trying to get the ref in to claim low blows(he might have a case) but kovalev stayed standing so how do you give him a count there ? :S

It doesn't matter. Even at the end Ward was landing low blows and still no intervention from the ref having already been ignored on a low blow earlier in the round. It's a fix!

I agree, and I agree they could have ruled the ropes held him up thus giving him a count. But if there is no standing 8 the refs options are limited. That's actually why I hate that so many fights don't have a standing 8 anymore

I agree that ward landed some punches a bit below the belt but most were on the belt. The stoppage was bad but Kovalev was about done. And I'm saying this as a big Kovalev fan. He wasn't coming back. He was gassed.
