    I box to get fit.
I don't plan on getting into any fights (in the ring or outside of it)
But I love the training aspect, my trainer keeps me guessing
and always gives me a killer workout.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

I like it for the feeling of waking up and wondering what happened.

Trainer told me last night there's a show on this weekend - considering nominating me for a second then realized that only gave me 2 days to get the medical done and get down to weight - will nominate in July now. Not a bad idea really since I still can't skip or run on hard roads and am getting a cold so aerobically I have some ground to make up over the next month!

It's always a huge rush. Probably the most tiring sport Ive done in a long time but fun as heck to do. Eh being a science dork during the day gets me restless, so I look forward to being a dork with gloves at night. New strategy = burn hole in opponent's glove with inch thick glasses. Plus theres always someone's style you can learn from in the ring and apply to your own. Made me laugh the other day one guy was sparring with a pro at our gym, and he wasnt landing near half of what he threw. So he asked the pro "Am I telegraphing or something", and he laughs and says "No, Im just that slick."

hydroman's all pent up during the day and puts on the gloves and let's lose. Yep, there's lots of to be had in boxing. I prefer competitive mano y mano sports myself, boxing being the most competitive.

Aren't you glad now that you don't have to do everything at once? That gives you plenty of downtime until then.

Anyways take it easy and treat your cold to a hot cup of tea that fixes my colds like gang busters, get plenty of sleep too.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.

I know what you mean there - so many people in my building just live for science - it's part of the work culture here - we're not expected to have much of a life outside of our study - no way can I do that! I think having some physical activity and looking after your health ultimately makes you more productive mentally anyway.

Yeah you're right - I find rushing around to do medicals and dieting at the last minute pretty tiring. As eager as i am to get back into it just to prove to myself that i will - I'll be more confident if I'm not sick. The cold I've got has been going around ad i was wondering why I hadn't caught it yet but hopefully it's only a 2 dayer.

Hot tea sounds like a goer - I like adding lemon juice, sugar and honey to hot water when I'm sick. Gang busters is one I haven't heard before - what's it mean?

When you have a cold you need to stay hydrated, I prefer a hot drink to get me through the day. My magic combination is Lipton tea with honey, sweetener and a teaspoon almond oil. I've been adding almond to my shakes as well, I just like the taste.

I know of a friend of mine who likes to put a cough drop in their tea when they're sick.

Gangbusters? It's american slang and from what I know means to get the job done well with no problems at all.

I started boxing as a Hobby as a kid, with the ambition for mayb competeing a little bit....Ten years later the sport has totally consumed me, I love that boxing sets me apart from all of the people around me in that all my friends/family automatically link my name with boxing.

I'v had some demons in the last number of years losing a number of friends and family and it's had a profound effect on me, making me quite introverted and quite.
That's why i love bein in the ring where i control everything and i can be as cocky as i like because iv trained hard enough to know im better than the guy across the ring. And as for the competition....I live for it!!!

I boxed because I am a warrior, the same reason I joined the Marine corp. I tell each and every prospect that comes into my gym, which I have been training over 20 years that not everyone can be a competetive fighter, let alone a good one, and that their is no shame in this. It goes back to the beginning of time, male dominance, man against man, who is the best. I respect all who enter the ring, win or lose, because it takes a lot of courage to face another individual in combat. We who box are modern day warriors, plain and simple. I love the smell of the gym, the rythm of the bags being hit, the breathing, the smell, everything. I am truly in my comfort zone in the gym. However that was a long time ago, please pass the Ben and Jerries::P
