I love yalls embracing of ANYONE with a boxing record as a "boxer" and celebration of their success. Noons has 7 pro boxing fights I think with only one against a guy with a winning record. He also was KO'd by Bennet who has about as much punching technique as butterbean. KJ may prove to be a great mixed martial artist but his career up to this point to include winning a 1 round fight due to cuts isn't anything to get all that excited about YET.

Yeah I've watched the Kimbo fight about 10 times now. Countin all the replays anyway. That Bo Cantrell guy, was terrified before the bell even rang, believe me. Watch the staredown again, the ref says "good luck" and Cantrell leans over to tap gloves with Kimbo and actually tells Kimbo "good luck". Then he tries a freakin wild spinning back fist from a distance he knows it won't land from, then taps out in a mad panic/frenzy as soon as he gets hit. Pathetic, he owed it to himself to fight better than that.

Can Kimbo be a success in MMA? Would that be good for the sport? I've yet to see either fights, going to watch them tonight.

I've always said he looks like a boxer and picks his shots nicely, uses a jab nicely, etc. And he's fun to watch because he likes to trade and is good at it. But last night he tried to BOX with a boxer, and a boxer will always be able to counter a guy who likes to stand but isn't himself a boxer.

I want to see a rematch too. I believe Nick was losing, but I do now concede that a good takedown artist like couture WILL get a boxer down. But my contention is still the same...the sprawl is easier to to teach than boxing and it's harder to take them down than people think. Noons showed it last night, but maybe Nick will get him down next time. Two very good, tactical fighters.

IMO Nick came in that fight WAY over confident.....He was using the Crazy Horse loss as his guide to judge Noons....and he paid for it ....I like the guy as a fighter but he is a sore loser.....

I wouldn't call Noons a world calss boxer in fact some of those shots were WIDE as all hell but he used it enough to catch Diaz beiing careless...In MMA 7 fights is better then no considering some of those guys throw punches like bar drunks....

Hard to actually judge what he has since both opps were so lousy.....

Took some time for me to work up the nerve to admit that I tuned in for Kimbo's big moment. I'm a MMA detractor, ya know. Well, I watched the replay after the "fights" when off...

Some about Kimbo Slice makes me feel sorry for him. I get this "no one ever loved me for who I am" vibe when I see him close up. Still, I will be cheering loudly when he his beaten in front of a mass audience.

Does anyone think that Bill Goldberg has something for Kimbo?

LOL That was funny. I'm not used to this MMA stuff. He looked like Guile from Street Fighter.

Yeah, he shoulda used the Sonic Boom! For real though, sometimes those spinning back fists do work, and connect, and knock the opponent down or out. Watch some George St. Pierre fights, he uses it well.

That's true Van, and Diaz also has one pro boxing fight. BUT, Nick likes to stand, and to do it with a guy who has more boxing than him was a mistake. Now, what would Nick have looked like if you were to take 3 months to teach the sprawl to Cotto or Mosely?

With that said, Noons, who's a decent boxer, calling out De la Hoya and PBF...well, he's just stupid to think he'd last 30 seconds with either of those guys.

A resounding YES. I've said it here for a while now.... the guy has spent time in a gym. He hits like a truck and is strong as an ox. I beleive that if he was to start younger, he maybe could have been a force to be reckoned with in boxing or MMA. The guy is a machine and will only get better under BAS. And reall,y all BAS has to do is teach him a sprawl and some basic wrestling... and a sub or two along the way.

I honestly forgot about him saying that. It was so stupid I can't believe I forgot until I read your post. He's a decent boxer, which will work in MMA, but he shouldn't get carried away.

KJ Noons is over excited. He just wants to make a big $$$. I've never like Diaz,he comes across like an ass to me. The Kimbo fight was woedul,I've never seen someone tap so early in a fight merely from punches. I thought the dude was going to be a badass and maybe give Kimbo a good fight(Bo was his name right) because of his experience and his audacity of coming into the ring with THAT beard. Kimbo looks powerful and working with Bas will be to hs benefit but I still question how far he can go.

Wow...haven't posted in quite some time now :P

    Anyways...my thoughts on Kimbo:

Fight wasn't rigged....Bo is just a terrible C or D class fighter that took the fight on short notice to make a quick buck. He wasn't in the fight from the get go.

Kimbo is a friggin beast. Before, I always hated him. Just a big tough guy, no real skill or technique. But now, training under Bas, and truly (from Bas' own mouth) giving it everything he has to make it, he'll be a serious force. He'll lose some fights, and will never be a Fedor-esque fighter, but should easily dominate the smaller MMA circuits.

That being said...is it just me, or is Kimbo pretty much the answer to "What if (a much physically larger)Tyson did MMA?"
Boxing is like a handjob, and MMA is like a hot sweaty orgy with 5 chicks. I could never say no to a handjob, but which would you rather have?

No, he isn't. :P But only because Mike is exceptionally more awesome with his fists. But I DO think Kimbo is a decent boxer... ie, he has at least some amateur training, ie, time spent in a boxing gym. And he hits friggin hard. It's unfortunate that kimbo wasn't discovered (or tried to persue a REAL career) sooner. I think he'll do well in even the top mma ranks, but we'll never truly know how awesome he could have been.

I think we are getting ahead of ourselves with Kimbo. Lets see him in the ring with someone that is going to push the pace and take him out of his comfort zone. There is no doubting he is physical beast or that he hits like a Mac Truck but his competition has been pretty weak so far.
