Yeh, again I totally agree, that's what people will say. I would like those people to offer a better fight for JC at SM or LH than B-Hop at the moment

TBH i think this is a lose lose for Joe. If he beats Hopkins people will say so what hes 42 and Jermain Taylor did it when Hopkins was middleweight king at the top of his game. I think he deserves credit for the win as Hopkins is still a wiley old fox but i doubt he will get it.

The main perceptoin of this fight is that Calzaghe should easily out work Hopkins to a UD but what alot of people are forgetting it Hopkins is an exceptional counter puncher and if you give him a sniff of an opening you in big trouble. Joe Calzaghe for all his assets does tend to mock his opponants and leave his chin out from time to time and if he does it in this fight he will be punished also Calzaghe doesnt like a rough ugly fight as i remember Bika giving him a bit of trouble

I feel for Calzaghe to cerment his legacy hes gotta beat Kelly Pavlik who at the moment is the main threat to him and would probibly be the biggest name on his resume in terms of a world class fighter at his peak.

I thnk JC will win the fight, I would much rather have seen it 5 years ago though He should beat B-Hop, beat Pavlick and then retire imo

I mean Hopkins is 42-43 years old , and well past his best.
Calzaghe is biging this up like hes fighting a guy in his prime. Personally i think in maybe 5 years time people would just be saying , " well Hopkins was an old fighter etc etc"
By the way i dont think its an easy fight at all thats not wot im saying.
    its a pick em fight.
I get the feeling this kinda fight should have happend long ago for Calzaghe , and now his career is comming to an end hes desperate to get called a "great"
i would really like to know your opinions on this .

If Hopkins was on the downslide and barely getting past opp I would say yes...Or if he was getting wins over second rate guys but Hopkins is still among the elite...He is a phenom in being able to compete steady at his age at such a high level....The thing that makes him different from Foreman is Geroge took a lot of time off and his body recovered....Saving him from wear and tear...Plus Hopkins has a different style allowing him not to be hit by constant hard shots.....

There will be the guy here and guy there who use age as an excuse if Hopkins loses but all in all it will not be an issue for those who know better...Didn't effect Walcott or Moore's legacy and the guys who beat him were never discredited for it so

Itotally agree and thats really my point , Hopkins really has nothing to loose , Calzaghe really as you say is on a loser , wotever happens.
i mean great fighters like Marvin Hagler were retired at 34 , Hopkins is 42-43 , i just dont see Calzaghe in the long term getting much credit.
Also i really give Hopkins a good chance of victory if Calzaghe plows forward.

fact is hopkins is old for a boxer, at 43 he can get old in the ring at any stage.

im sick and tired of hearing calzaghe say the same old crap " i've been champion for 10 years i'm undefeated i've seen it all before " say something different son, no wonder hopkins has gone into overdrive with his crazy coments, he knows joes turning audiences away with his borring repetative line, plus b-hops killing himself burping out crap coz he doesn't want to hear that tune again from joe

in the last 6 months every interview joes done he says the same thing " WELL I'VE BEEN CHAMPION FOR 10 YEARS, I'M UNDEFEATED, I'VE SEEN IT ALL BEFORE " after a fight, on the news, in magazines, on press tours. even if you want the guy to win he turns you against him by keep saying it, someone should tell him to say something new

People say the same about Hatton, he repeats himself and all that. But what you don't get is they get asked the same fucking questions over and over again.
"Who do you thinks going to win Joe?"
    "Are you confident Joe?"
"Are you worried about travelling Joe"
"Will you be better at the weight Joe"
"were you shocked at the racist thing Joe"

Seriously, he ain't a waffling, bullshitting Hopkins type character, he must get bored stupid with that shit.
