Why not?...Joe is 1 fight out of the SMW division....He has been able to make the weight...Might be harder for him as with every boxer as they get older but not a crazy concept for him not like he would become weight drained to any real extent.....
As for Kelly he is a big guy naturally...he walks around as a LHW easily...if he focused his training on strength and conditioning so the keep on weight is turned into muscle and he has nothing to drop before the fight and keeps his stamina it would be fine...Joe is not a big puncher so that would not come into play....It is very reasonable to say this could take place at either weight with no problem....
If Kelly was going to face a natural LHW like Tarver or something first time out that would be different

Be back at super-middle this would easy..Im sure i saw Calzaghe quoted somewere saying he would drop back down if he had to. Pavlik looked pretty mean when he weighed 166 for the taylor re-match so I dont know how Joe feels about taking the fight.
I feel he deserves to ride into the sunset with the seniers now. But Finishing off his career on Pavlik(if he won) would be one hell of a send off.
"It wasn't the night of the jab"
The fight would be at 168 if it happened i'm assuming..
As far as i'm concerned, Pavlik is the best fight for Calzaghe's legacy i think.. and heck, even if he does beat Pavlik, he can still fight Jones, but if Cal wants the best chance to beat Pavlik then he should do it sooner than later..
I'd rank the Lacy victory and the Kessler fight higher than the Hopkins victory.. Simply because they were young HUNGRY guys who were in there to take Cal's head off, and he boxed their asses off, and in Lacy's case really put a hurt on him.. It showed his great abilities and talents.. Against Hopkins he looked sloppy and BARELY won the fight.. Granted Hopkins will make anyone look silly but i'm still much more impressed with his wins over Kessler/Lacy.. With that said, adding Pavlik to that list will be huge IMO.. Another YOUNG HUNGRY up and comer that has all the hype in the world..
It's funny cause it's been said that Cal has no chance against Lacy, that he has no chance against Kessler.. but after those fights no one really had anything to say but that Calzaghe put on a brilliant showing.. after this last Hopkins fight, everyone says either that he didn't win, or that Hopkins is 43 and who cares..
Point being that if he beat Pavlik, no one would have anything but praise for him, as opposed to fighting RJJ, well you can always say that he's WELL past his prime and that it wasn't that great of a victory.. etc..
OH BTW.. what happened to "I think you're gonna see the power at 175.. i'll be able to showcase my power" What a JOKE!!..
No mate deadly serious! NOBODY in the world is better at 168 or 175 than Calzaghe AT THE MOMENT. I don't think he should fight RJJ, and I don't think he would've beaten a prime RJJ either, what I am saying is, for the last 3 out of 4 fights he has stepped up and fought the man everybody said he should, he can't do anymore than that! If he fights RJJ for a payday he deserves it, afterall Pavlick is taking a safe fight against Lockett. Personally, I would like to see Calzgahe have one more fight against Pavlick, who I see as the only real fighter at their peak and on their way up between Middle and Light Heavy.
What I am saying to you is, in the last 2 years i.e since Lacy, who could Calzaghe have fought to impress you more than the 3 men he has just beat?
