Two things. First, I have a feeling that all the people who swear they will not watch this rematch...WILL. The hype (24/7, etc.) and dislike for one fighter or the other will just make it really difficult for people to just dismiss this fight. Second, was the first fight a razor thin decision? No. Was it a good, competitive fight? Absolutely. For about 3 or so rounds, i have never seen anyone box Floyd as well as Oscar. He was landing his jab at will and reading/blocking Floyd's punches. But of course, he made a strategic mistake of fighting most of the fight in an all out pressure style. This didn't help his already questionable conditioning late in fights and Floyd eventually regained his comfort zone and showed his superior conditioning/speed. Does this mean that if Oscar fights a technically sound and relaxed fight in the rematch he will win? No. But he has shown that he is still a very skilled fighter. Add that to all the subplots: the Mayweather's fueds, Floyd having been focusing more on other things (wrestling, etc.) and the fact that these two know how to promote a fight....and i think it will be a solid, competitive, and fun fight/EVENT. We are all going to watch it, so lets not try and deny it

Yea I know beforehand the fuss everybody made, I know as I went the bookies and placed a bet on ODLH, but watching the fight it wasn't that close IMO and it is pointless for PBF to fight Oscar again when there's better and bigger fights out there, for me it is just a waste of a fight for Floyd and pretty pointless because if Oscar can't beat him in 2007 whats the difference in 2008?

Im not saying i agree with the fight personally i would rather Mayweather fight winner of Williams vs Quintana 2 or Cotto vs Margarito. But like i said i still don't see it as a joke fight nor do i see it as a bad fight, but yes i would rather see Mayweather take the fights i just mentioned.

Thats your opinion and I respect that. I just want Mayweather to fight Cotto so much, it would be massive, two undefeated welterweight world champions going at it.

Too much risk for Floyd

You know what makes me laugh and i have said this time and time again, people were saying it was a massive risk for Floyd Mayweather Jr to step up and fight ODLH who weighed almost 1 stone heavier on fight night. When the fight was over most people enjoyed it and see it as a close fight, i personally didn't see it that way but quite a few people did want to see a rematch. Now its considered a "Joke fight" i just don't understand people sometimes i really don't, yes there is better match ups for Mayweather to take but this still isn't a bad fight, and to be honest with you i can't see how you wouldn't want to watch this fight, the skill level in this fight is very high standard and i can't see how any true boxing fan wouldn't be intrigued by that but thats just my opinion.

I guess i'm one of the few who agree.

Ice I know your a Floyd fan but your taking this too far, how can you say PBF-Oscar 2 is a good match ?? Floyd needs to fight Cotto/Margarito or Mosely, Williams etc. Oscar is a year older than last year and got busted up by a super-featherweight most recently, he's well past his prime now and it's time for him to hang them up. The fight is one of the most pointless rematches in years. It was only a SD last time as Oscar was actually forcing the fight and he was the fan's favourite. You said yourself you gave it to PBF clearly. I've hardly seen anyone score the bout to Oscar apart from that shitty judge. PBF is only doing this for money which supports my claim of Floyd being "Counterfit Money", P4P joke he is, he should fight a legitimate contender.

so the whooping he gave Hatton shouldn't really count as taking a risk? or fighting the best? and Mayweather/DLH II is pointless, but Hatton/Mayweather II isn't? what kind of bullshit is that?!?

I get your point and you formulate it very well. It seems like a lot of people consider Mayweather-DLH I a joke fight in hindsight which at the end of the day is merely stupid. There _were_ a lot of questionmarks beforehand - weight, height, Oscar's power, ringsize, gloves etc - that made this a fight worth waiting for. That extra amount of uncertainty, where a fight might genuinely go both ways - well, it was there. I had Mayweather as a clear winner on points going into the fight (also afterwards btw), but a lot of people believed different, and even I could acknowledge that with everything set to favour him, Oscar *might* just do the job. He couldn't, but that should be testament to Mayweather's qualitites, not merely confirm him as a fraud.

However, for a rematch the question marks aren't really there. Floyd can hang in there with 12 rounds, even at 154. Floyd can move around ODLH for 12 rounds without getting caught big time. Floyd is willing to do that, no matter what he says beforehand about knocking him out. In short, the surprises that we thought we might just be in for, well they seem very, very unlikely now. Add to all this that Oscar is not getting any younger, and probably not any hungrier either. The best we can hope for IMO is Floyd becoming sloppy, but I really would rather see him be serious on other challenges instead.

As for calling it a joke fight - even for a sporting point of view, Oscar is probably among the top 10 best opponents for Floyd, but it just seem so pointless anyway.

The rematch is disappointing. Even though DLH did better than expected in the first time and made it fairly close and competitive, I don't think it was the type of fight that warrants a rematch.

As everyone else, I'd rather see Mayweather-Cotto, but even if Mayweather wanted Cotto, I think we'd end up with Cotto-DLH (and we'd miss out on Cotto-Margarito). As it is, I think we'll still get PBF and Cotto should they both win their next fights.

It's easy to criticize Floyd for going after this rematch, but honestly, the list of guys who would turn down this type of money for a DLH rematch is very short.
