I agree Mrs. Klitschko has a propensity to do that
I know enough to know MMA is crap....apparently you don't know that much....keep watching maybe some day you will see it.....you'll look at an MMA fight in the future and say "this looks like how two bitches would fight.....holding, hitting while someone is down, KICKING"....when have you seen two grown ass men kicking each other in ANY street fight?!?!?! If someone kicked me I would be inclinded to fucking shoot them where they stand because they are a disgrace to their family, their friends, and their gender

And Tito Ortiz deserves every ass kicking he recieves he's the embodiment of all that is wrong in MMA and UFC and all that crap....it's all marketing and you're a fucking sucker if you buy into it.....it's CRAP!!!!
lyle have you actually been in a real fight? its balls to the wall. This honor thing you speak of does not exist when you fight someone equally as dangerous as you are. Sure you will see in the movies about ooh we should have honorable rules like no kicking while down. but reality is, its the most vicious who survives. Save the honorable front to those who is not your equal, whos someone that is lower then you are and you know for sure you will beat them down anyway. No man is made to win every fight, so a real man gotta do what he gotta do. This talk about honor usually is from a man who knows nothing about getting punch in the face and having to scramble to survive. MMA is totally different from boxing, both have warriors and assholes but both deserves respect. MMA is the closes thing to a real fight. I REMEMBER james toney saying boxing is NOT a sport but honestly since MMA came to light. BOXING is looking more like a sport compared to MMA. I love both though, but BOXING is more one demensional and has a lot more rules then the all welcome fighting style of MMA.

No disrespect to you lyle but MMA is usually appreciated by guys whos been in brawls and understand what is neccessary to win a fight. Boxing is tradition to my country, and I do believe in honor but not all your opponents will. so you must do what you have to to survive. AND what i notice is MMA is not appreciated by those who speaks of honor but yet does not understand MMA is close to a real street fight, therfor what needs to be done must be accepted not dismiss and believe to be shameful and unhonorable.

Plus would you still follow honor when someone got you bleeding and you finally got him on the ground and to keep him there is to beat him down there. It all comes down to what your participating in, if its boxing then sure you don't hit a guy when his down but if its mma you do what you can but in a street fight. I'd kick, punch any man on the ground to keep him there and avoid reversing the outcome.

Hey I have been in plenty of fights...I haven't ever kicked anyone and I haven't stomped any feet either. I know most people fight without honor but I do, I'm sorry if you take offense to me not hitting you when I knock you on your ass but it's not my style....I'm a peaceful guy, I'll give you the chance to say "I was in the wrong, let's go get a beer and forget about all this"

Fight without honor all you want but I do when I have to ....I'm not a guy who goes out looking for and/or picking fights which is probably why I don't fight people who kick and fight like little bitches.

Sorry to disappoint you....but MMA is appreciated by douchebags.....look around....see the guys with Affliction t-shirts, tribal tattoos, barb wire tattoos, piercings, and bad attitudes.....they didn't get hugged enough by their mama's and now they spend each night trying to attract whores who they don't really want to do anything with and end up fighting people they don't really want to fight.....just go to therapy bro, it's easier and you get to keep all your teeth

hmm...ok lyle you fight with honor and you've been in plenty of fights.

IMO in a street fight there is no time for honor, you gotta be the asshole type (you dislike cause your just showing off) to ask your oppenent to get back up so you don't have to hit him while his down or you just straight foolish. I know for a fact anybody that lets me get back up is a fool cause that would be the only chance he had to beat me.

I think its childish to speak of honor then make a statement of shooting someone who fought without honor in order to save himself. I've been beaten up but yet won a fight, thats how it goes. a real fight both guys get beat up. when one isn't beaten up thats not called a fight, thats just called a beat down. and this fightin with honor you speak of is only seen in movies or spoken of by dreamers or two guys that mutually agreed to fight that way but a real street fight there is no agreement thats why you fight cause theres a disagreement. Anything other then that is a sport even mma is a sport cause there is agreements. So lyle were those fight you been in sports? or streets?

I'm not the asshole type...I let the guy get up, I let him know that he doesn't have to continue and that we can go get a beer and let bygons be bygons...if they want to continue it's their choice and so they decide how much of a beating they get.

...if someone is going to hit someone while they are down then they need to be "put down" right then and there.

I'm sorry but if you can't beat me in a real fight like a gentleman (with your fists) then you don't deserve to.

I'll fight where ever I need to....I spar but I don't go looking for fights because it's childish and stupid....I'm one of those guys who doesn't fight unless it's the last resort. I am the SOUTHERN GENTLEMAN

I think the street fights Lyle sees are fought with 8-10 oz. gloves, a referee who can be the only one to stop the fight and under the Unified rules of the ABC. That's the only way his argument makes any sense.

Why is kicking associated with a lack of honour or a street fight mentality?

It takes tremendous skill to throw a perfect kick, certainly harder than throwing a punch, and why exactly is it dishonourable?

In a real life street fight most people wear shoes so a kick to the face would b dishonourable since a nice steel toe cap or pointy shoe could be seen as a weapon, but in mixed martial arts the person is bare foot so are merely attacking with a limb just like using their arms.

Your analagy to art completely falls flat. Mark my words, if any paintings were discovered from Rembrandt or Da Vinci that were made in an impressionism or post impressionism style the art world would have a collective orgasm, it would be world wide news, we'd be informed over and over and over again just what visionary geniuses these guys were, anticipating an art movement some three hundred years before it developed and I guarantee those paintings would probably be some of the most expensive pieces of art in world history.

I've trained in both and I'm not so sure about that - i think it just depends on your standards for each

I'm talking about world class martial artists like Cung Le, Cro Cop and Anderson Silva. Their kicks are simply sublime, not just straight kicks to the face but they use their legs to sweep, throw and choke out their opponents.

Let's look at some examples of each.

Most importantly this would put the final nail into the coffin of a Mayweather rematch and so force Floyd to fight a real opponent in 09, with the winner of Cotto Margarito being virtually impossible to avoid.

Secondly Hatton's phenomenal appeal to the British public has always completely baffled me. His horrible hit...hold.......hit.......hold fight style bores me. His tedious and predictable one liners bore me, his eulogies about how the fans love him because he's a man of the people and the salt of the earth make me want to and the acclaimation he gets in interviews and from the media for his being such a jack the lad and working class hero type guy just make me yearn for another trip to the ring corner turnbuckle and the second self knockout in consecutive fights.

    ...
Yah, his man in the street persona doesn't impress me either. Problem is, he can't tell the difference between being in the street and the studio, which is why his interviews and weigh-ins are so liberally sprinkled with profanities. Save it for the bar bozo! Let's fooking 'ave 'im! LOL. Definite lack of class.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Please try not to stereotype all MMA fighters into one class of ginormous douchebag.

I'm in a gym with a buncha ex-MMA fighters who now focus strictly on the sweet science, and in short order our club has over taken skill wise the long standing boxing club in our city in quality of fighter as a recent rivalry match just proved. A lot of my fellow fighters brought a set of skills and conditioning to the table that when focused on strictly boxing, have made them effective and down right dangerous boxers with extremely fast hand speed. Plus none of them have weird tattoos or mohawks. . It's a bit presumptuous.

Now back to Bilbo's thread, sorry for the distract. I hope Hatton gets his ass handed to him. Badly too!

What's a lack of class got to do with anything? He fights for a living.

To be honest, because of how famous and liked he has become in the UK i think a niche has opened up (with a certain Hobbit leader) for individuals to become part of a rebel gang. A rebel gang that hates Ricky Hatton and all things 'nice'.

You know them sorta people who go 'the film was ok, but the book is much better'. Well they are the sorta people who hate Ricky Hatton.

Actually you are quite right. I HATE Christian Mijares with a passion merely because everybody else loves him. I don't like Cotto and I'm not too keen on Manny Pacquiao.

My favourite fighters are Mayorga, Froch, Margarito, Molitor and of course Floyd Mayweather.

I'm rooting for Lazcano to upset Hatton, Mora to wrest the crown away from Vernon Forrest and I'd love it if David Diaz managed to knock out the pacman.

I think I'm just naturally antagonistic.

The incident of the weigh-in is not the only time. I have no claims to the high moral road or anything, I just don't think that a sporting champion who is in the public eye should make a habit of saying "fuck" during televised interviews. It is crass and doesn't look good on him at all.
