watching this fight calzaghe will kill pavlik

I actually have to go with roy over calzaghe. Hopkins had more hand speed than joe and joe couldn't handle it at times, and i had joe winning the fight by at least 4 rounds. So if joe had trouble with hopkins hand speed how is he going to cope with roy jones hand speed. If calzaghe pulls out a win against jones, i'll be almost as shocked as seeing tonights zero offensive output by pavlik.

Why do I think Bernard is a LITTLE better then Calzaghe? First Hopkins dropped Calzaghe as did Mitchell so why would they say Calzaghe has the best chin they've ever faced? Second Bernard over his career has foughten more high quality names then Calzaghe. I am not trying to take anything away from Calzaghe by saying Bernard is better, Calzaghe is a great fighter, but he isn't in Bernard's caliber. He does have the same speed(not of hand, but in general) which their fight showed IMO as Hopkins used his quickness to land the better shots. Joe doesn't have the same accuracy, or power IMO. Watch Bernard against Glen Johnson, he was a complete animal. Hopkins is a little more versatile. I think he has the ability to fight far more fighters, because he can negate anything. Speed, timing, power, pressure, you need name it and Bernard will not only nullify your advantage, but in most cases he could turn it against you. I think Calzaghe is way up there in terms of modern day boxers, but I definitely don't see him being on the very top of the sport.

Cheers for the reply bud but I disagree on just about all your points,espesh the chin bit .. recovery as well as heart and genetics determine how good ya chin is..that aint measured because you have is it two knock downs in his pro career both from which he got up & went into another gear .. in Mitchells case right there & then..if a good chin was determined by knockdowns in a pro career we would be totally re writing boxing history, eg Ali, Fraiser, Hearns, Duran .. ya get my drift bud & I aint gonna bore ya with a long long list .. & as good as B-Hop has been what you see as guile & ability I see a lot of the time as spoiling & overuse of dodgy tactis....

Yet again tho Bud I honestly appreciate your reply & understand to a degree where ya coming from .. but for me he aint in Joes League ... if a good chin is important .. & we know that it is, then surely what price the length of Joes unbeaten career ...Look at Hops face compared to Joe's re marks & bent nose .. & it aint because Joe has fought second raters ... not that you said he has tho either ...

But hey ho thats what makes this sport so brilliant & forums like this excellent re our debates & opinions aint it bud.

I have to agree that Hopkins gives more fighters trouble than Joe does. I definitely agree.
He is more versatile, by far. I also see Roy beating Joe.

Calzaghe's knockdown against Hopkins was nothing more than a flash knockdown. Hopkin's hit him and knocked him off balance, it has nothing to do with a chin!

Anyway, by this reckoning Ali was chinny 'cause Cooper put him down.

I said it before ill say it again its Lacy mk II but with a stoppage. Pavlik does not have variety or footwork to live with Joe.

I said on here all week that Pavliks lack of footwork and lack of punch variety will see him drop a dec.

I never thought he would be on queer street 5-6x, his chin is real weak.

cant understand why there is so many fans saying roy gonna win (not impossible i know anyhting can happen in boxing), but all roy did was beat a retired tito who had not boxed for i dont know how long. are people forgetting the devastating knockdowns of roy jones, has everyone forgot?

I saw it happening originally, then people on here, made me think a little more of Pavlik, but they were wrong, and I won't listen to them anymore.

Pavlik againt Calzaghe is a totally different ball game, Hopkins had the perfect style against Pavlik, he is slick, he disrupts rhythm and he doesn't get hit. Calzaghe gets hit, He prefers rhythmic fights, and he isn't super slick. I think Calzaghe wins, but its a much harder fight then this one was for Bernard, I think Bernard is better then JOe, and that he deserved the nod because he was landing real punches.

Great does that mean we no longer have to listen to you?

Isn't there a forum dedicated to gloating smartasses and internet tools that you can join and brag about when you got a fight prediction right on?

I'm sure somebody somewhere will be impressed by your extensive boxing knowledge, just not on this site.
