I thought the thread was who we suspect?

I mean saying Kahn and Enzo?? Suspectweknow for a fact they have GLASS chins.

I think possibly Paul Williams i couldnt see him taking AbrahamorPavlik bombs for 12 rounds.

La Motta was the naturally the bigger guy against SRR. Jake was 15 lbs heavier during their weigh-in according to HBO's SRR documentary.

What about George Chuvalo? Who else can say they fought George Foreman, Jerry Quarry, Joe Frazier TWICE, Muhammad Ali TWICE, and Floyd Patterson without ever being knocked down? Chuvalo had a head made of granite.

in the solid jaw category, one who hasn't been mentioned and who should be in the top 3 of the best jaws of all time is Kid Gavillan, fought against the best, fought 143 fights and never got ko'ed or tko'ed, a prodigy in the matter if you ask me. Librado Andrade has a seriously solid chin as well, I can't believe everything he did absorb from Kessler and Bute without flinching and we're talking serious bombs by boxers with tremendous power here.

As for the glass ones, Enzo Macca deserves an award for the fragility of his jaw, he has my price at least.

Among the suspect ones, I go too with the Giant Valuev, he almost got floored by Jean-Francois Bergeron who's a decent but not great heavyweight, I am also wondering about Mayweather Jr, he hasn't ate many bombs and his defensive skills make it hard to judge but I remember him receiving a stiff jab from Hatton and going back reeling for a second or two before controling the fight again so it makes me wonder a bit.

I think the whole "glass jaw" discussion among boxing fans is usually a complete waste of time, marred by uneducated opinions and knee-jerk reactions after a KO loss.

Lennox Lewis always comes up. The guy was knocked out twice, once by Rahman and once by McCall. These are two fighters with BIG KO power, who caught Lennox with bombs he didn't see coming. I think people look at the fact that he got KO'd by two vastly inferior fighters and assume he had a glass jaw. These guys were inferior, but they were huge bangers who landed hard, right on the button. How many other times have we seen Lennox hit the deck?

People who say Floyd has a glass jaw must have only seen 2 or 3 of his fights. The guy has been tagged hard before, and in 12 years of fighting pro has never been down from a punch. He avoids punches because he has the means to, if guys like Arturo Gatti and Mickey Ward had the skill Floyd has, do you think they would have taken all those punches to the head still?

He doesn't have the best jaw for sure but it is overstated to say he's the fraud of the fraud, in the heavyweight, you just can't be champion for a couple of years with a glass jaw as one single punch would always (or almost) make the difference. THat he doesn't have a good one, I do agree, but it is good enough to be champion for a couple of years. Lennox didn't have a good jaw neither, but it wasn't made out from glass, Wlad has only the same problem.

I think Paul Williams has 1 of the best chins in boxing and I think he will be able to absorb the middleweight punches well. In their 1st fight Carlos Quintana found him quite often and could not budge him and Antonio Margarito loaded gloves or not nailed him squarely and could take him out and Winky tagged him a few times 2.

Don't really think any of those mentioned have true 'Glass jaws'. Those guys, like them or not, are operating at elite world class level. They would not have got past the journeymen if they had glass jaws.

Best jaws I can think of:

    Marvin Hagler
    Julio Cesar Chavez
    George Chuvalo
    Jess Willard
    Muhammad Ali
among others who I cant think of right now

Margarito has shown pretty good punch resistance through his career.

The trouble is, that when a fighter just 'goes' ...... their punch resistance seems to just disappear. We've even seen this from great fighters!

I'd like to see the Internet Warriors who are so quick to sit on a computer and call fighters fake, cowards, cheats, glass jaw etc take a couple of shots from a professional fighter to just 'recalibrate' their grading systems.

Oh god yes!! This is exactly how I feel. Just a single shot would be worth it

Although if they've done a bit of swimming I think they'd firm the shot easily

Did Ali have a fight once where his jaw got broke? Just goes to show you. An all time great,a true legend, but even the greatest boxers were human!

Well yes, a boxer SHOULD run the hell away from punches, but the way THEY ran their little tails off at the slightest feint or punch, it always seemed to me that they knew they couldn't take too good a shot.

Now ODLH can REALLY take a good shot. So could Larry Holmes, and so could Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali. I would say they were the OPPOSITE of the Glass Jaw crew above.
Vargas had a glass jaw?!? WTF?
Yeah, I'd agree with the other posters that you don't know the first thing about glass jaws.

Also Ali liked to avoid shots and fight off the backfoot in his earlier days and history has shown us that he had one of the best chins/was one of the toughest fighters to ever grace the sport.

So basically I don't really know what you're shooting at here.

There are VERY FEW fighters at or near the top level who have a glass jaw. Most fighters with glass jaws youve never even heard of because the dont usually get too far in the pros.
