I don't rate Diaz and Casamayor is getting older 37 when JMM fought him. Casa is definently the better of the two though and neither was proven at 140 much less 147 where Floyd decided to move the fight after not making weight
yeah casamayor was basically shot
but know that PBF beats JMM at any weight. 130, 135.
I just don't understand how people can think there is a double standard about this whole thing.
135+9=144 (only 142 @weight in)
150-4=146 (oops, supposed to be 144! oh well)
Marquez... never been to the WW division
Floyd... won't fight anyone in the WW division today
Ahhh, screw it. It was a fair fight. I retract everything I've been saying about this mismatch for months. Floyd is the best, and he proved it that night. I think JuanMa just called you out Floyd.. you gonna let him disrespect you like that?
"Floyd needs to inject Xylocaine into his balls to gain the courage to fight Pacquiao."
- and I quote from some random guy on the internet
Bingo, this should've been the original reply.
retired after Hatton claiming nothing he could do to convince the doubters, and his supporters view was always that he'd return after one of the main welters would seperate themself from the rest, as it would have been 'unfair' on him to face all Pwill, Shane, Cotto, Marg. Marg gets a hugely impressive win against Cotto (at the time there was no doubts) and Floyd stayed schtum, Shane does the incredible and slays the boogeyman, yet still no word, yet JMM KO's an already exposed lightweight and suddenlt there's a worthy contender for his WELTERWEIGHT title. WTF!!!
JMM was rightly rated high in p4p as he had a great Featherweight career, and the wins against Casa and Diaz consolidated it as a career Featherweight who could still make 125 well into his 30s had stepped up an extra division again, NOT because those guys were elite themselves. Because (brace yourselves Floyd fans) traditionally there have been weight divisions for a reason, and beating a guy naturally heavier than you would gain extra kudos. Joey Maxim never took SRR's postition as top dog when he beat him, the kudos dont work when you beat the smaller man.
Of course my whining will be null and void if JMM turns out to be just a tune up, and he faces someone like Shane or winner Cotto Pac next, but I ain't holding my breath.
P.S., Floyd ain't no longer a small welter, if you can't make an ounce under 146 then there is no other weight class for you.

It's only a double standard if you ignore that fact that Pac has fought at this weight & higher before AND make Cotto come in below what he is regularly contracted to fight at AND forget that Mayweather couldn't be arsed to make weight. But please feel free to ignore all this. Most people do.
You all need to blame yourselves for Floyd. I remember just recently you all ran Paul Williams out of the division because you didnt want him to fight "YOUR" favorite fighters. Cotto fan said hell no. Mosley fan did the same. He couldnt even get Margo fan(when he was the hot thing) to even take a rematch. What goes around comes around, so stop ya bitching and look at how you guys treated Tall Paul. You guys just want to belly ache about someone else and not your own. Critisize yourselves first and then your arguements would be takin serious. Im not even a Floyd fan but I can see what is being done. By the way Paul Williams would have beat the shit out of Floyd but he would have had to beat YOUR favorite fighters first and thats what you were scared of. DOUBLE STANDARDS IS THE RIGHT TITLE FOR THIS ONE.
I hate the fact that Ricky F'in Hatton has given Pacquaio a free pass to use the excuse "He carries his weight up better" than JMM does.
What a load of BS - Just because Ricky came into the ring like an idiot with no defence against the then P4P #1 and gets KO'd he automatically is good for the weight?
Just because Freddie Roach organizes a bout with Oscar where he KNEW Oscar would be weak and weight drained (his words not mine - This is criminal IMO) - Pacquaio has carried his weight well to 147??
How very convenient...Maybe the problem was that Pacquaio's opponents were nowhere near the level of Floyd Mayweather Jr? THAT is why Marquez could not carry his weight up well.
I wonder how a 140lb fight between Marquez and Pac goes? I bet Marquez still schools him!
One thing I can agree with you all on is that I'd like to see Mayweather challenge himself in just 1 welterweight fight against another elite welterweight - Then he can and should retire peaceful in the knowledge that he is not only an ATG (because he is already one) but an ATG that even the most avid hater can acknowledge.
