This is my only real worry as a Haye fan. He has not been active enough, but he is young and a very healthy athlete so i'm hoping he doesn't show any rust. Apparently his sparring has been quite intense but only against the likes of Tyson Fury who has now broke his hand so i'm not sure who he has sparred with since to practice for Valuevs height!
To my knowledge he's called on the Great Julius Long
Eh...you take what you can get...he's probably used Tye Fields....if he was smart he would call on Alexander Ustinov who is closer to the size of Valuev, he's routinely over 300 pounds but he's in decent shape and moves well for a guy that big....he's not going to be a great fighter but he would provide Haye with how it feels to be in the ring with someone that big
Lets be perfectly honest here, he maybe 7foot 2 320 odd pounds but the guy doesnt really possess any boxing attributes and for a guy of his stature isnt exactly a big puncher.
Hayes just gotta go through the motions and not be stupid in order to get this job done, i really believe that. As long as he doesnt stand and trade with the guy he should be able to use his superior footwork, energy to take a comfortable points decision after 12rounds.
It doesnt exactly sound exciting because there really isnt much to get yourself excited for about this fight. Haye is unproven untested and definitely there are still question marks not only about his jaw but his actual hunger to get in the ring and fight.
But you dont have to be a world class fighter to beat valuev. You either have to rough him up and jump into him for 36 minutes ala:chagaev, ruiz or as ive already mentioned use your far superior boxing skills which haye will possess to keep out of trouble for 12 rounds!
one dangerous horrible bloke
...it's hard to stay out of range vs Valuev and Haye's defense is poor.
his defense is suspect. Anyone thats seen the thompson and mormeck fights will know that.
He leaves his left hand down and opens himself up to all kinds of trouble. Heavyweight boxing is the one division you really cant afford to be doing this.
The ring in germany will be small designed to aid valuev and your right in saying haye isnt gonna have much room to manouvere. But you dont neccesarily have to be out of range from valuev to not get hurt.
He`ll throw chopping right handers into haye all night. David has to simply fight at angles using his superior footwork to make that big counter as hard as possible to land, get as many hard punches into a completely open chest whenever possible and avoid getting sucked in by one of those big rights.
That alone is job done...
one dangerous horrible bloke
He has the potential to land and absoloute monster at any point in the fight that could put valuev out.
I dont think it will happen but if haye was to land and absoloute peach of an overhand right just as valuev attempts a right of his own he wont just put valuev down he`ll send him to sleep.
one dangerous horrible bloke
If Haye gets a KO, MARK MY WORDS it will be from a looping overhand right....Monte Barrett wobbled Valuev with one of those early on in their "epic 11 round battle"....Haye will have to follow up very quickly though
If the fight starts to go long, Haye will NEED to stay very close to Valuev, rip off a combo and then get back to clinching as being "in the pocket" vs Valuev it will be very hard for Nico to get anything on his punches with as long as his arms are and Haye could fight at a slower pace....it may be bad if Valuev leans on him though, but Chagaev did that to Valuev and won.
...I just thought of something, it would be funny as hell if Valuev got KO'd and landed on David Haye![]()
That would be as close to a win-win situation as we could get for you Lyle...![]()
