Yes respect for talking about these guys at least. I am of a strong mind that one should only focus on one opponent at a time. Khan/Maidana should be the topic and nothing about Bradley yet.

Exactly - Khan was looking ahead to his next fight when he fought Prescott and BOOM he was asleep.

I'm still not sure Khan is 'chinny' in the true sense of the word. I just think he left himself too open in his early fights and got hit. The shot that sparked him from Prescott would have taken most people out if they hung their chin out like Khan did and got caught bang on.

I said right from the start that Khan has the potential to be a massive star. He has cross over appeal and as British Muslim could actually build bridges between the two 'sides'. Much like Barry McGuigan did for Ireland back in the day.

If it comes off, and Khan should do well to make sure that it doesn't fall down from his side before the fight, then whatever the result he should at least get more respect over here for fighting a dangerous fighter he knows is dangerous. His KO came at the hands of a fighter they didn't know much about, fighting Maidana, they'll know how hard he hits and still go ahead with it will show that he's not going to be packed in cotton wool forever.

but he's been dropped and seriously hurt by far lesser fighters and shots, perfect example was against light hitting Willy Limond (spelling?)

True but again if you watch the fight he's wide open to the shots that hurt him. Thinking about it he was also hurt badly to the body a few times by Michael Gomez so maybe he is made of glass

Lets hope we find out either way in his next few fights.

Man, all I can say is fuck Freddie Roach. I've been a big Khan supporter on here & have defended a lot of his shit, but vacating after 1 defence because the mandatory is a dangerous fighter is bullshit. The only justified reason to vacate would be to fight Bradley, which he ain't going to do. Seriously, I'm sick of everything to do with the Wild Card right now.

well would you really expect any different from Roach?

he should rename the gym to "Cherry Picker" gym, it'd fit like a glove

Damn and I was about to start supporting Khan and hoped that he could prove the naysayers wrong. Well I guess it's Paulie Malignaggi than.

Wow.. I've lost alot of respect for Roach these last few weeks. All the shit Roach was hyping up about Khan winning the title now he wants him to vacate it.

I hope Khan doesn't take his advice but I think we all know he will.. although it should be noted the source is the sun newspaper, and they are particularly well known here in the UK for making up absolute bullshit or twisting words to make it look like something else.

    Here's the source article:

    "
AMIR KHAN must either give up his world title or defend it against the fighter his trainer fears.

The WBA light-welterweight champ, 23, has been told he has to face Marcos Maidana and have ordered purse bids by January 18.
Trainer Freddie Roach admits Khan should relinquish the belt rather than step between the ropes with big-hitting Argy Maidana, 26.
Roach said: "It's a business and it's about the right fights at the right time. There are some good fights out there for Amir.
"He can outbox Maidana but he's tough, a good puncher and you don't want to exchange with him too much."
Maidana has stopped 26 of his 27 opponents with his only loss being a split-decision against Andriy Kotelnik - the man Khan beat for the WBA title.

    "

Just as I suspected, Roach hasn't actually said he wants Khan to avoid the fight.. but he's certainly hinted at it.

Why the hate on Roach? It's a systematic problem with the sport, but it is by no means solely Roach. Look at the way Mayweather has chosen his fighters in recent years. Plus, Khan's father and Frank Warren have more sway in the camp than Roach and moreso Khan is able to make his own decisions.

I want to see Khan fight a puncher as much as I want to see Mayweather fight a legit welterweight, but the thing going for Khan is that he is only 22 years old. He'll have to fight a puncher at some point in his career.

"It's a big fight for me, defending my WBA title. It's my first defence and it is true what people say — it's tougher to keep hold of a title than win it."
"I don't want to be one of those fighters who wins it in one fight and loses in the second fight. I want to keep hold of my title."

Amir Khan before the Salita fight.

I think under Roach he can pull this out the bag, he seems so much more disciplined under Roach and is far less Gung-Ho than a few years back.

Best thing that ever happened to Khan was that spanking from Prescott.

He knows his limits now and has improved loads imo.

See a Huge year for Khan in 2010 and i really do think he'll be massive in the US of A.
a fight that Maidana should have won yet was robbed
Beat me to it. Maidana really should have won that fight I had it 8-4 Maidana, not saying my word is law or anything, but he was landing the clean effective punches.

That being said, I still think Khan beats Maidana just a total stylistic nightmare in Khan's favor.

How my mind's eye sees it going down(if it is, in fact true)

Khan clawing and banging out a hard fought SD with Maidana and then losing to Bradley... Bradley is the better fighter.
