Nobody breathed for 40 minutes in the Castillo v corrales first fight...

I agree that this is a great fight , probably has more twists and turns ,
but Hagler v Hearns was massive and im sure many none boxing fans watched and enjoyed the hype and fight.
Thats why historically its THE FIGHT .
But if you are into boxing , then yes there are many great fights out there.
That's what ICB and other younger guys don't understand. You can't really appreciate how great something is when you didn't even exist when it happened. It's like being told the ending of a film before watching it.
It would be the equivalent today of watching Pac-Floyd having a mental three round tear-up. Everyone would be totally shocked, which would make it totally unforgettable.

On its own merits it was an incredible fight no question. But I get what ICB is saying, in terms of simply the fight itself I think there have been quite a lot better. But then you can't separate the fight from the event. In terms of the magnitude of the event combined with the action itself it could well be the greatest fight ever. What Fenster said about Pac-Mayweather is quite apt and is exactly what me and my friend have said about it.

that was my point about it being two superstars at their peak - added a hel of a lot to the event.
I never saw it in full till a couple of years later.
have seen some of fights you list ICB, and appreciate where you coming from but Hagler Hearns had it all and will still be talked about 50 years from now whereas your list of fights will be forgotten.
and you should have put Carl Thompson v Ezra Sellars on there![]()
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
Hagler v Hearns is the best but the closest for me to that has been the first Eric Morales v Barrera and Benn v MClennan.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Just feels right that i rewatch it right now before we get to GMT midnight
Hope that both tommy and marv actually realise what today means for those of us who loves this sport so dearly
one dangerous horrible bloke
An amazing fight that's in my top 5 of all time. I give Barrera Morales 1 the top spot though as I saw it live.
Maybe if I was 20 years older and watched it live it would be at the top of the tree for me too.
ROFL @ Hearns saying Hagler "got a hard head; no wonder he keep his head bald, he got a weapon there."
"The day I clipped the Butterfly's wings."
