"There's nothing special about him." -Sergiy Dzinziruk
Exactly man, I pointed this out in the thread about his suicide, that some members are being very quick to slam the guy without knowing all the facts (I can see I've been met with criticism, but I'm not bothering to reply at the risk of starting an unnecessary sh*tstorm in there). As I say, we don't know him personally, all we know is what comes through the media and his in ring character. It's impossible to make a character assessment solely on those insights... Hell, some psychologists can't even make character assessments on people they sit down and talk to on a regular basis for years.
What Valero did was wrong, nobody can deny that. A young woman is dead by his hand and that fact will not change. BUT, Valero is a guy who suffered severe trauma to his head in the past and has continued to get hit in the head ever since that happened. Now, no matter what way you twist that one up, it is an extremely worrying situation. There is a high possibility that he has not been of sound mind in recent times... then again he may be fine, but the fact is, we should not judge one way or another. Saying the guy deserved to die, that he should go to hell etc etc... It's just as bad as applauding his actions. Potential brain injuries should not be taken lightly!
As someone who has studied Neuropsychology, I know only too well the tragic results that can come about as a result of someone who suffers trauma to the head. It reminded me of a story my professor once told me about a guy who was perfectly fine until one day getting hit by a car, resulting in brain injuries and a downward spiral of deteriorating mental health that would eventually lead to him setting fire to his house, killing himself, his Mother and his sister all in one go.
I'm not saying for certain that Edwin was in the same state of mind, but the fact is we don't know either way. Like I said, brain injuries are as complex as it gets.
Lets try to keep our cool people.
We all have to keep close reigns on what we think or eventually circumstances can bring them out of us for real.
From my point of view Velero became obsessed, then was maybe even possessed: The stages can be seen.
He couldnt watch what he was thinking any longer and his own story took him over.
Through his lack of compassion towards others. His demon won, nurtured an internal story to blame all his pains onto someone else. Then the story took him over and made it his story and history.
Happens alot when our minds can no longer reel in our own emotions we search outside for the cause and then we blame.
You have to let some things just go Daxx.
All people react in different ways some can only deal with it by allowing themselves to search for a funny side.
Others go into depression, others get drunk, others get obsessed by it and have to know every inch of it.
Finding wrong in others is the real issue here, I think it is the root of what caused him to do what he did. If we blame our pains on external causes we can remain victims of them. If we say instead that we are allowing external things to effect us (then we get our power back to be able to do something about our position in it). Theres a big difference in those two ways and none of us are taught them. Which is wrong ! So Im off to kill a few parents and teachers...
No Im not, Im going to remain very calm and smile at the obvious trap I could of fallen into and not join the millions in the world that do.

couple of kids woke up yesterday to find they had no parents anymore
That is what should be the primary concern for everyone involved right now. Valero`s dead and he dies a viscious murderer who will never have any respect within the boxing world
RIP to the wife and hope to god she made peace
