the fighters get tangled up in a clinch, but then it's more of the same, again Calderon seems to be taking the round off, and Iribe is noticeably getting frustrated, but continues to miss and get hit, Calderon appears to be bleeding from a accidental clash of heads (you called it), but it doesn't seem dangerous, as he continues to dominate

    ROUND 9: Calderon

Iribe is just loading up on his shots and he's getting irritated as the crowd yells "Ole" every time that Calderon dodges one of his shots, not much action this round, Calderon lands a solid 1-2, then moves away, Iribe plods forward and Claderon jabs

    ROUND 10: Calderon

    98-91

more of the same, Iribe trying to rough him up to the point that he loads up and falls to the floor (Iribe), Jesus switches to southpaw only to get whacked and switch back, Calderon landing at will while the crowd chants his name, dips too close to the ropes and almost pulls a Cintron, again Calderon landing jabs, straight lefts, and right hooks at will, while Iribe only hits air

    ROUND 11: Calderon

    108-100 Calderon

a desperate Iribe goes right after Calderon at the bell, Ivan just on the back foot avoiding shots, now he begins to work landing jabs and straight lefts mainly coasting around the ring avoiding shots, finally Iribe ups his workrate and is tagged by an uppercut, then 4 consecutive shots, Calderon plays the crowd and Iribe becomes enraged, but still can't cut off the ring, Calderon is standing his ground a bit more and landing combos while counting down the clock, the final bell rings

    ROUND 12: Calderon

    118-109

the scores are in and it's,

    Taylor 118-109 Ortiz 118-109 Steward 116-111

    Calderon wins by UD

he looked very sharp, awesome stamina tonight, never stopped moving and apart from getting hit with a shot while off balance he completely dominated Iribe, a fight with Segura would be nice

He should be bigger then he is, but his style isn't crowd pleasing enough I guess. But its funny how people always talk how great the tacticians are in boxing but the ones that make it on the world stage are few and far between. Calderon should be on HBO or Showtime whenever he defends. But he won't be im sure.

the crowd was actually very much into the fight, chanting Calderon's name over and over in the later rounds or when he'd come on, when he would make Iribe miss they started with the "ole" chants which just seemed to piss Iribe off more lol

Good job on the RBR, bro. Unfortunately I missed the fight, and had to read about it in the paper. Calderon is one slick boxer, and a shoo-in for the HOF for sure. I believe he broke the Puerto Rican record for most successful title defenses, with 18 (13 at 105, and now 5 at 10. I hope he's got a couple more years left in him.

On McWilliams Arroyo... yes, that was shocking. I've seen this kid fight, and I feel he's gonna be a champion someday. He's got the goods. Another one that should be around for awhile is Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. Truly a chip off the old block.

McWilliams lost cause the fight was only 4 rounds, Okada started out strong and scored a KD in the 2nd, Arroyo bounced back in the 3rd back hurting Okada and he kept it going into the 4th, but wasn't able to drop him, at the end i had it 2 rounds each, but an extra point going to Okada for the KD, lets remember that Arroyo fought just two weeks ago on the undercard of Vazquez Jr's fight, IMO it's for the best (him losing the 0 this early) and i think he'd take Okada out in a 6 rnd rematch, he's still a great talent and i expect great things from him and his brother

Yeah... sometimes carrying that "0" around with you tends to skew reality a little bit, and becomes somewhat of a burden. In SOME cases, it even affects who you fight and when (see: Floyd Mayweather). In any case, I think you're right about the Arroyo brothers. Although I've seen them both fight and I like McWilliams even more than McJoe. They're both slick boxers with lots of speed... but McWilliams has more pop in his punches.

agreed, but McJoe has also shown more poise and patience IMO, both are great talents though, also here's a vid of Carlos Negron, another young talented fighter from Puerto Rico, he's a huge Cruiserweight with well rounded skills good power and if he continues the way he's going he could easily make the jump to heavyweight

Thnx for the vid. Carlos looks promising... only 5 fights, so he'll need to mature as he gets in with better fighters. But he's got the height, reach, and power to make it far. At 6'6", I'm sure he'll flesh out to HW size in a couple of years.

Bet my beer, McWilliam Arroyo will be a World Champ. I believe this will be a lesson learned in his career and if he takes it in a positive way can help him in future.

Returning to Calderon, he is one of the most skilled boxers today (and past). i think only guys like Floyd can match his skills. It is very unfortunate how the TV does not support him. I think he had some bad luck with the cuts in key fights. I hope that he can finally get his big pay day some, he deserves it.
