don't mind my comments last night lol was in a pissy mood.

Honestly, it's almost always a bad idea to resort to fighting outside of a ring for so many obvious reasons. So I'm not trying to make it seem ok. I suppose what it is, is that we all having our snapping points. And simply being able to go duke it out often might be a good way to resolves things that otherwise won't get resolved (both parties willing that is.)

The prob. lays in how it is viewed where you live. By the courts mostly. And having some trained skills on your behalf tends to put the burden of reasonable force proof and that sort of deal on you. Just try to decide how hard to hit someone when you are squaring up. A tough thing to do. And then know just when to stop? Again, easier said then done.

I live in a fairly violent place, and have done more then my fair share of turning the other cheek. I guess sometimes it just gets to you.

First thing you need to be aware of is that there is a hell of a difference between a street fighter, and a boxer. There are no rules. Expect a sucker punch if your attention is diverted. Next, you have to know that you stand a good chance of busting up your knuckles and breaking bones in your hand pounding against a skull or hitting a belt buckle. You also have to know that sometimes, if the guy your fighting is losing, his "friends' will be prone to jump in and give him a hand. In my younger days, I got in street fights, bar fights and alley fights with my cousin protecting my back. You also run the risk of the loser pulling some type of weapon or device.
First rule of street fighting is not get sucked into a fight, If you have no option then you fight hard, fast and strong to get it over with quick. Use every dirty blow you can. Use the palms, edge of hand, and 1st three knuckles if you are bare fisted.

All that being said, I will also add that I went out of my way to ignore idiots, loud mouths, and people trying to goad me into a fight....but there was a mental line I drew and if the guy crossed over it...the fight was on.

In the work place, if you have a bully, or someone pushing you. Stand up and challenge him to meet you at a gym, a garage, someplace private and away from the public, where neutral people selected will control it from getting out of hand. Challenge him in front of others to either put up or back down. If he just runs his mouth after that...he is branded a coward and a loser. If he accepts, even if you lose..make sure you hurt him where he wants no more...you will have his respect.

To this day, I carry a set of gel pack knuckle gloves in my back pocket because people are getting more rude and violent, and if I have to defend myself, I don't intend to spend time in the ER with my hands in ice packs. Have never had to use them. In a pinch, a roll of coins wrapped in tape, or a small piece of pipe inside your fist will do the job. I knew one guy that wrapped his belt around the knuckles of his strong arm.. a lot ibetter then an empty fist and they are not considered a weapon...you were going to the bank, or looking for a length of pipe for a plumbing project if asked.

Everything you say is true, but do not carry anything. If you see a fight just get out of there. If you have to fight then get into it and you can always pick something up around you if you have to. I would never put something in my hand when I punch, you would break it even more. If I was desperate I would aim for the groin, eyes and throat.

I understand what you are saying. Like I said...Avoid getting sucked into a fight. But in street fighting, if you get to the point that YOU have to "pick up something around you", then you are in a world of hurt, because you most like will not find anything--(no time out's remember) or you will grab up something that could be lethal. As far as breaking your hand worse with something in it.....the object in a street fight is to get in and put it down as fast and hard as you can...using every dirty punch you can throw. Take a simple test... have someone stand behind and hold a light bag. With just your fist hit as hard as you can...then wrap your fist around a roll of quarters and hit it again...yeah, it hurts, but ask the guy behind the bag which was harder. Yes, your fist is going to get hurt in a bare knuckles fight..that's why I carry my gel padded knuckle gloves....just old habit. Oh Yeah, one other lesson. If you are in a bar or place where someone is trying to push you into a fight, never ever turn your back and try to walk away. Move backwards slowly keeping your eyes on him. If you turn your back...thats when he will throw the sucker punch.

In the old days if you had a dispute with some one you would challenge them to a duel, pistol or fist. While I prefer the latter, with today's laws a fist is labeled as a deadly weapon.

Why can't disputes be settled between consenting adults? Say you have a problem with somebody at work (where this is mostly coming from ) and the fucking guys just irritates the shit out of me.

I am new at the job, in my 3rd week, he has been there for a while. Totally impolite, bumps into me and does not say excuse himself. I imagine myself landing a nice left hook and putting his pompous ass to sleep.

Not only would I lose my job, I would most definitely be fucked by the fuzz.

Is it "archaic" in modern times to settle disputes in such manner.
you know one time some guy at work told me to shut my trap, i was immediately interrupted by a customer, i helped, and proceeded to find the fell, i told him "if u ever talk to me like that again....i will fuck you up!" he apologized and was a complete ass kisser for the remainder of my time at that place, now if he were to decide to take it outside, well he would have made my fucking day ...basically, i think you should pull the guy to the side and let him know he is a moment away form getting destroyed, if he tells on you, deny it, and if he decides to act tough,well...take him outside
    I'm of a similiar mindest.

The power of intimidation is very underrated. Most people are NOT fighters. Not in the least. And when push comes to shove, and you let them know that: A). You box and B). Your not afraid to fight. Then I figure the guy will become quite the sweetheart to you after that.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
