Anyone Getting Tired Of Boxing Lately ?

Have been reading a book by Gilbert Odd that rather fantastically documents the history of Boxing from bare knuckle days - Gem Mace etc. right though to about 1985. A rather apparent theme was just how political Boxing has always been and also how fights were made, financed and promoted.

To be honest, I do agree with what someone already said. BUT, through good or bad, witnessing a fighters rise to the top, through talent, serious hard work and utter dedication, it really is something to behold. A real spectacle. Despite the downs, I have nothing but adoration for the competitors of the sport and will ALWAYS tune in to watch guys that have such desire and will to win regardless of any wrong doing the sport conjures against them.

I'd would, although a few guys could be mentioned, like to mention Delivin Rodriguez. Stuck in there agsinst the odds regardless of promoters pushing another fighter, dug it out for the underdog and rose to the occasion AGAIN. Awesome stuff.

There's been some great fights already this year and also some great performances also. Favourite fight for me would be Marco Huck vs Alexander Povetkin. Infact Huck has provided some top action. Can't wait to see him in action at HW again maybe against the winner of Chambers vs Adamek. Could be a splendid fight.

I think people are misnderstanding me, im not saying im totally going off the sport. I'll never stop watching boxing, what im saying is that the last year and a bit, i have found that boxing has been in real bad spot, so many bad decisions fights not happening aswell as the steroid cheaters.

The only real two good fights i've seen in ages was Cotto/Mayweather Lopez/Salido 2. And they wern't amazing fights either, it seemed like a few years ago i was seeing alot of good fights, now it seems pretty dull im hoping Bute/Froch is interesting.

Shit goes down in any sport but it doesnt make me not want to watch it, there have been LOADS of excting fights within the last year, and it has made me want to follow the sport even more.

I cant think of any other sport where the two best players never go against each other. The fighters and promoters have to much power. There are too many fighters avoiding each other. Lots of really bad decisions. Very corrupt. Takes too long for a prospect to have a real fight. The belts dont really mean anything and there are more and more new belts popping up every five seconds.
He is getting irritated with the sport for those reasons. I can see his point. Would you watch tennis if Nadal and Jhocavic were too afraid to play each other in fear of losing. The sort of bullcrap that happens in boxing is unique to the sport and they manage to walk away with our money while feeding us there constant shit. Such as Jhon Murray fighting losers for 30 fights undefeated only to find out that he was not a top fighter when he lost to Mitchel. Or Cleverly having a title and wanting to defend it against a guy ranked 40th in the world when there are other much more worthy and deserving challenges.
Those are just a few things I can think of off the top of my head.

You are right there. All the way up to the Mitchell fight. That was an awsome fight and Murray got exposed for what I knew he was. He puts up a good effort and fights hard but he was made out to be something he wasnt. If it takes all prospects in this country to have 30 fights before we know how good they are there are gonna be alot more jobs for journeymen out there.
If you look at my other posts I praise UFC as well. Not for the fact its a more exciting sport but because the right match ups are made at the right time and you find out how good fighters are alot earlier.

Faith restored. You get all the Mayweather and Pac crap and you then watch someone like Froch and it makes you love boxing again. A guy who wants to fight the best and be the best. He got his ass handed to him by Ward but came back and he fights the second placed in the world straight after. No warm up fight and no bullcrap. He admitted Ward was the better fighter on the day which is nice to hear from a boxer as most of them never lose in there minds.
But wow. He just came out and gave a great performance. Clever boxing at first and when he thought he could hurt Bute he just went for it.
Why cant there be more real fighters in the sport of boxing like Froch.

The more you fight the better you become. Does not always work out that way. And you dont think 30 odd fights against nobodies is too many before a real fight. Look at Froch and Khan. They are the best fighters in this country and they are the two fighters that have taken the hard road there. People like Jhon Murray fought about 30 losers and lost to Mitchel. Did these 30 fights against unworthy opponents make him a better fighter. I dont think so. You need good opposition to improve.
Look at Cleverly. they wanted him to fight a guy ranked 40th in the world for Clevs title which they thought would line Clev up with a shot at the winner of Dawson Hopkins. That would not prepare Clev for the fight at all. It would just be throwing a lamb to the slaughter to get Warren a bit of cash in his pocket.
