I wouldn't have a problem with the fifty different weightclasses we have now if people actually fought in their weightclass, I mean what they're doing now defeats the whole purpose. You got welters coming in as super middles, middles coming in above lightheavy....

The point is you don't dehydrate at all because you fight where your weight really is instead on a same day weigh-in. That's how it used to be done. For example, plenty of Sugar Ray Robinson's Middleweight Title fights, Ray weighed in at 154 or 156 lbs, several pounds under the 160 limit.

No dehydration, like Heavyweights for example, leads to far fewer serious head injuries because Heavyweights don't dehydrate. Fewer serious head injuries even though Heavyweights hit with far greater power than these little dehydrated guys who lead the pack in ring deaths.

I think Pacquiao's the only guy that fights in the class that he weighs in at. Between fights, he walks around at about 150 lbs.
He weighs in at about 146 at the day before weigh-in. On fight night, he's 148 lbs but that's wearing his gloves, trunks, and boxing boots.
When he used to dehydrate to make 135, he'd be 144 lbs the next night. Not dehydrating improved his performance as he was in the zone for a couple of years up till the Margarito fight in Nov 2010. Then as he aged, he began to erode...

Punch resistance goes up when a man doesn't dehydrate. That's what happened to Cotto. He took a better punch when he went up to 147 and from harder hitters...

I like Mikey Garcia. He's a very personable young man, and an exciting boxer/puncher. But 2 pounds??!? WTF is that all about? He's taking a page out of Brandon Rios' book with that fiasco. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable.

Is this a trend from these young, Tex-Mex or Mexicali fighters?
    I mean c'mon...... where's the discipline here?
It's a total lack of respect for the sport of boxing and its fans, who pay good money to see a professional boxing match between two professionals, at the agreed upon weight limit.
Not much more you can say about that.

Seems to be a habit for Robert Garcia fighters. I bet Arum is happy with him.

It is becoming a habit with fighters from this region, Garcia, Rios, Chavez. Apart from Purdy, I cant remember the last time a European fighter didnt make weight for a big fight. Did Hatton ever fail to make weight? I mean if he could make weight, anyone could.

Yea a lot of people dont make weight. But Im talking about world title fights. I dont know stats at all but when Im hear about it it seems to be fighters from that region. I have no idea why you are getting so defensive. Im just saying it as I see it. Alvarez is another one. Thats 4 of the biggest boxers from the region who do it.
