Default Are fight fans the most mistreated in sports?

No other sport in the world mistreats their audiences and paying customers more than the fight game. Promo co's denying fans of key matchups, network wars and geographical restrictions, bogus titles, inept judges, overpriced single event ppv's, etc..

Just the nature of the sport I think. Fighters are the most mistreated of athletes and fan loyalty isn't nearly what it is in some sports, works both ways.

It's not a structured sport and the fighters have too much say in their own careers, which sounds strange but it ruins things a bit.

    For instance in football:
    Chelsea get told to play
    -West Brom on January 1st
    -Arsenal on January 8th
    -Liverpool on January 15th
    -Everton on January 22nd

They do what they're told by those who structure the league because if they DON'T they don't get paid.

I believe there needs to be ALOT more mandatory fights scheduled and maybe a progressive career system.

One that works in a way that if you win like 3 fights you're made to step up a level.

    Unlikely, but I can dream.
    You say tomato,
    ‘n I say …… it correctly.

Personalities, kingdoms/empire building, and egos get in the way of making the best fights. Even when they do happen you have to pay an arm and a leg to watch it. Boxing fans are treated like cunts.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

Works both ways, it could easily be argued that fight fans are among the worst, most unloyal of all sports fans. We constantly shit talk fighters, bury guys after they lose or show any kind of weakness, and what's worse fight fans seem to have no respect for the sport itself. They want entertainment: blood, guts, brain damage, but the actually sweet science - hit and not get hit - people don't give a fuck about, which is why ring geniuses like Rigo and Ward are being shunned by the networks.

Nobody is wishing for brain damage man, c'mon that's a stretch, and the blood and guts people have probably switched over to MMA by now. I think fight fans are some of most loyal fans in sports. The lengths that fans go to in order to watch fights are endless not to mention they cost money.

Boxing fans are poorly treated, and they know it.

However, fans of American and Canadian professional team sports are made fools of and don't even know it. NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB: you name it!
Those fans are so die-hard loyal to the team that they'll argue with complete strangers and even shout insults if the stranger is a fan of the other team. The players that they so feverishly cheer on, those players have no loyalty whatsoever to that team. How do the fans rationalize that? The players are like mercenaries, they'll go wherever the money is and the hell with team loyalty, but the fans proudly and inexplicably wear jerseys with those mercenaries' names, (whoops ), players' name on them.

I got news for you man, what do you think happens when a guy gets knocked unconscious? THAT'S A BRAIN INJURY. THAT'S BRAIN DAMAGE. And who the fuck doesn't like brutal knockouts? And when someone fights in a way that is not conducive to either producing or recieving a brutal knockout, they're labelled as pussies and boring. And don't even start with the "MMA and it's fans are more sadistic" nonsense, because it's idiotic.

Fight fans are the most loyal fans in sports? Bull shit. A football fan goes and supports his team. He's a fan of the sport. If it's a low scoring game, if there are no crazy hail mary pass receptions or amazing punt returns, bone crushing hits, ect, he doesn't leave the arena angry. He doesn't get pissed at the winning team for running down the clock by taking knees at the end of the game. He came to see a SPORT, competition, ect. The crazy highlight-reel stuff is just a bonus.

That's not the same way with boxing. The vast majority of boxing fans could give a flying fuck about the technique and the art of boxing. They want to see someone get a concussion, and if it doesn't happen they leave disappointed. So don't give me that shit about boxing fans being the most loyal fans. Bullshit.

And how far do people really go for fights? Most of you internet-savvy motherfuckers just watch the PPVs and fights on illegal streams. Who the fuck does that help? How does that contribute to the sport?

Most genuine boxing fans dont pay for fights, at least european fight fans. We all watch it on streams
