Just before the 80's hit over here

HolyHelz now that's just whack. Ffs it looks like the exact same guy. I feel a serious Run DMC jam circa 86' coming on

I loved the eighties. From a music standpoint it was a little tough to compete with its predecessor but it was the end of the bell bottoms. So bell you couldn't see your shoes. Midway to later 80's was better than the first half. Boxing in the eighties was better overall I think compared to the 70’s. The move from 8-track to cassette was pretty much done. Polyester was big still but natural fibres were making it known and cool clothing shops were popping up. I hated Polyester and the Saturday Night Fever look that hung around through the early eighties. I was all Funk which was great in those days and kind of underground. Could not stand Disco. Gas was a buck a gallon. The weed was mediocre.

It was the worst decade for pop music. The 60's, 70's and 90's were MUCH better.

Movies were somewhat better in the 80s than in the 70s though.

Good decade for boxing, toward the end of the decade we had Mike Tyson. I used to go over to Detroit to watch Tommy Hearns when I lived in Windsor.

People were more sensible and conservative in the 80s. Drug use was down from the reckless 70s, at least in the mainstream. People were less promiscuous than in the 70s because of fear of AIDs and herpes.

The 80's sucked in the rock area and the glam shit and hair bands got stupid. I liked the Clash though, the Police, especially Reggatta De Blanc, The Pretenders, The Cure, The Beat, Prince but at the after hours clubs and the like......

We had a couple of threads recently about eras and losing-finding interest in boxing. This is like that and I peaked in the 80's Musically it was the debris of rusted tired punk finding a local renewed push, uproots of street or battle rap turned break out conscious hip hop, Aqua net and front men shrieking standing on a Camaro, tall towered hair, an accent with too much foundation and synthesizers by the trio. Occasionally you'd get the dust in the wind of a rock opera type or disco remnants but if anything the 80's was exceptionally diverse and runs deeeeeep. video killed the radio star ffs . The decade redefined music and was absofufookinglutely bitchin This may be one of those threads in need of run on endless lists It was indeed a decade of 'firsts'. Most I can think a young guy experiencing happened right there thinking about it.

Thatchers weight and cruelty on a child already burdened by parents who weren't up to the job made me go to several primary schools and then eventually hit homelessness at the decades end with the inevitable split and pet dog killing. It was a rubbish decade as it fed into many years of constant self evaluation.

lol. damn man. I thought I had issues with this porn thing, but you've got REAL issues that cannot be resolved so easily. It's sad when you can link your life back to the fucked-upness of a political leader, can you?

    1980s
McDonald's introduced chicken mcnuggets & every other fast food joint followed suit.

Video games were played at the arcade; Pacman, Centipede, Donkey Kong to Space Invaders. Get the high score ..and a girl might give you her phone number.

Music was bought at a music store not online. Sam Goodys, Mainstream, Musicland. Album covers to marvel over. Easy way to meet a girl who is staring at a Michael Jackson album cover.

Pre 1980s Americans voted as democratic or Republican. Cable tv and talk radio began to echo each other...Americans had to become liberal or conservative.

Rocky movies and Star Wars were the cinematic big dogs.

Jack Janet & Chrissy aka 3's company was the big sitcom. And Saturday Night Live had Eddie Murphy taking them to the next level of funny: Buckwheat got shot, Velvet Jones' "I wanna be a ho'"

Michael Jackson's Off the wall album.. Caused radio to merge. Aka the term crossover. Black artists as a result were showcased on FM radio, not just AM. MTV did its part via television. Michael Jackson turned music videos into a phenomenon. Before him it was just people singing on stage. MJ changed music format on radio and how videos became a major role in music.

In rock music...spandex and long puffy hair. The guitarist was just as popular as the lead singer.

Twix candy bars was IT!!!!! Candy bar with the cookie crunch!!!
All's lost! Everything's going to shit!
