I watched it again. Montell was clearly hurt, perhaps ready to go; so being the saavy fighter he is, he decidedd to take a knee instead. This confused Jones so he continued to wack him.

Given that he was hurt before going down, I can't say with any degree of certainty that Montell was faking it. You'll notice there was a delayed reaction form Montel after he was hit while being down but b/f going down head first, but delayed reactions are not uncommon in boxing.

Also, it looks like the ref counted him out at first and then awarded a KO victory to Jones, until he had time to reconsider the decison. I didin't see him ask Montell if he could continue.
