Like I said, spectators would hate to see a basketball team just pass the ball around making time because they are ahead of points but still, it’s a victory no matter what and a smart safe way to win.
Boxing fans hate ODLH and then have him do something that spectators don't like (run around), even worse. No way out.
    That's a myth.

Watch the fight and you hear his corner telling him "box, box, box", not to stay away and give away the rounds.

After the 10th, they told him "no more rounds like that", but DLH was more defensive in rounds 11 and 12.

Furthermore, you can clearly hear the corner tell Oscar "make sure the judges know you won the round".

The fight is a joke, De La Hoya is a joke and if he actually loses then he will be a bigger joke than someone caught wearing womens knickers.

Watch the fight and you hear his corner telling him "box, box, box", not to stay away and give away the rounds.
And that's what he did. It's not like he came out like Oliver McCall vs Lennox Lewis where he simply didn't want to fight and kept his arms down. ODLH gave a boxing lesson against Trinidad showing speed, combos, footwork, jabs, uppercuts, hooks, straights, one-two, defense, etc.
After the 10th, they told him "no more rounds like that", but DLH was more defensive in rounds 11 and 12.
It may not look good in front of the fans that expect an action-packed fight but its still a tactic to win. Just like a basketball team who's winning and for the last minutes of the game they decide to just pass the ball around and make time. Does it please the fans? Nope, they'll even get booed. Will it help them win, definitely.

I was referring to the end when his corner told him to "box, box, box". It seems as if people think his corner told him to give away the last 3 rounds, because they felt he had it in the bag.

That wasn't the case when I re-watched it. They told him to box and make sure he still won the rounds.

De La Hoya was admittedly fatigued, and Trinidad is a big puncher, so maybe it was the right thing to do. I still had DLH narrowly winning even while losing rounds 10-12.
