Very valid point... I'm not sure tho if I've seen the exciting little fighter Jorge Arce on HBO?

Arce was the main event on HBO in his fight against Julio Dave Roque Ler, Pavlik/Zertuche was on the undercard, the Arce fight was at 112 lbs

pretty sure his fight against Makepula was on HBO as well

True, but Arce was a bit of a special case, very exciting but also charismatic and a huge Mexican following.

Thanks, so HBO actually showed fights of exciting 112 guys... It could be that Calderon is just a little boring fighter and also a bit smaller at 108 that HBO decided not to show his fight...

IMO Calderon is also charismatic and has a huge Rican following... He's not that exciting tho...

Maybe with the following but not the charisma. Arce was a celebrity.

like i said in another post, Viloria is a 108 lb fighter, and he's got power and is exciting, yet he's never fought on HBO either, both Calderon and Viloria have been on HBO PPV undercards but never on regular HBO, it's more of a lack of interest in the division from the GENERAL public, dunno bout you but Calderon/Cazares 1 was one of the best fights that year, it's not like Calderon doesn't engage, he just doesn't have to power to put dents in his opponents

Well if HBO showed Calderon as undercard of HBO PPV in the past then why scratched him now??... But we will leave it as it is, HBO don't want to show anymore Calderon fights for whatever reason they had...

Calderon is lacking in the excitement factor. He's got no power. People wanna see knock out. I bet hbo will appreciate him more and give him more exposure if KOs Mayol. That's a no brainer.

Calderon's lack of power which usually results to boring fights makes him very tough to sell in the US TV market, aside from being in the smallest division of boxing...

really, calderon is the favorite here but mayol is a live underdog.
Some fools blinded by their love of Hatton said that, but I very much doubt Galaxy did, he's too smart to say something as stupid as that.

I think Calderon wins this one either by a late TKO or UD of 118-110 or 119-109
Cheers Jaz, I picked Pacquiao by KO for the record (Hattons just to wide open)

This is Calderon's 1st appeareance at the Garden, he was preparing for an arguably tougher opponent in Cesar Canchila until Segura defeated him & he has a big fight (for little me) with Viloria looming, plus the fact that his undefeated record & legacy are on the line!

Theres no way he messes all that up on Mayol!
i didn't mean to say that galaxy said that about the pac-hatton fight. what i just wanted to say was i would never say no way someone loses to a fighter who has the capability to pull an upset. calderon is no spring chicken, he had a rough time against cazares and mayol is a big flyweight who's heavy handed and previously lost only due to ill-preparation. calderon also said he doesn't know anything about mayol's style and is looking at a fight with viloria. so if everything aligns for mayol come fight night we might be able to see that upset.

I expect conservative Mayol. Not jabbing a lot but instead going for the Calderon's jugular. He's gonna look for a knock out cuz that's the only way he can win. I see Calderon hitting the canvas from Mayol's money punch which is left hook to the head or a vicious right uppercut.

HBO and many people considered Calderon fights as boring ones not worthy of airtime... But I think Mayol will try his best to make this fight interesting...
    .
I really got mad yesterday when I read in the local newspaper that Calderon fight was being taken out of the transmission because they needed the space for the Dark Night movie (Batman). Dam, this was really disappointing. I really don't know why people don't pay as much attention to the low weights, when they display such as great talent, I guess this is something that the true boxing fan should appreciate. We can watch Floyd dancing in the ring for 12 rounds, but we can not watch Calderon doing the same just because he weights 40 pounds less. Guys Calderon is one most (if not the most) skillfull boxers today. He has an amazing ability, unfortunately he does not have the KO punch to be attractive enough to the TV. Still I consider Calderon the best of his division today, and one of the best of all times in his division (and I am not saying this just because I am from Puerto Rico).
