I suppose with a very VERY early KO you can just claim that you walked onto a lucky punch and that had the fight of gone further you would of stood a better chance.

Im talking 1st 2minutes of round1 here, anything after that and its 100% certain you got knocked out by a far superior fighter

A shot like the one Hatton took def. caused some type of change in him.
I mean that seriously rearranged something in his body.
I heard that it's cured him of that horrible disease which made him refer to himself in the 3rd person.

I believe boxers would prefer not to have a KO loss.

Wayne McCullough pleaded with the doctor not to stop his fight with Oscar Larios because he was so proud of his never been down or stopped record.

Paulie Malignaggi fully accepted Hatton was gonna beat him but protested he shouldn't have a TKO on his record.

Chris Eubank always points out his stoppage loss was due to a closed eye and would have continued if the doctor let him - says nothing to do with his chin.

Lennox Lewis argues he was never knocked unconcious, he was stopped on his feet.

But everyone knows he wasn't fit to continue. It's a good example of the feelings boxers have about being sparked

But there is a difference between being close to being stopped and allowed to continue and then going on to lose a competitive fight than being absolutely shown to be inferior in every department and schooled by a better man for 12 rounds.

What the mind wants: getting spark out as soon as possible so your brain doesn't suffer substantial trauma or extra injuries due to repeated blow to the head.

What the heart wants: To go up to the end all blood and guts and to stand firm no matter how bloody and intense the war was to show the whole world that you have some balls and courage.

Well I wouldn't want to be koed like khan was by prescott....

I wouldn't mind being koed the way hatton was. Round 2 against pac was a brawl, not one way traffic at all, hatton went down fighting, no shame in that, and he lost to a potential steroid cheat, so definately no shame....

there is something to be said about getting to the end bell... I don't think I'd want to be humilated for 12 rounds in front of friends and family.

When it was waved off against Rahman, Lewis was on the floor. I watched it last night on KOTV on Channel 5.

I guess for your health it is best to get zapped like Con but as far as being a man and being able to be proud of your performance I would say 12 round beat down.....Yeah Lacy got owned but he never stopped trying.....

Stumbling around the ring like a drunk isnt something Khan should bring up ever again.....and to say that KO he suffered is better than any alterntive is lunacy.

Call me a wuss, call me yellow, but I'd take the quick ko any day of the week. Sure the ko might be more embarassing, but I'm of the thought live to fight another day...and I think a quick ko gives you a much better chance at that. Hence I really don't like to see overly brutal boxing matches, but there have been plenty of fights when I wish a corner or ref would stop a fight when a fighter is clearly overmatched, but they just let it go on in the hopes of landing that one shot, but how often does that happen, half the time the dude don't even have ko power....

I don't think taking a beating for 12 rounds is anything to be proud of to be honest.

I think people really are too into the "you never got me down Ray" mentality because everyone wants to be a warrior.

A warrior is a warrior because they can be nothing else, even Arturo Gatti once he learned how to box tried not to take punishment in his fights. Some fighters would like to have a brain left when their career is done and be able to play with their children whilst not being punch drunk or having brain damage.

Sure taking a beating for 12 rounds may prove you're a "warrior" to a bunch of fans who ultimately do nothing for your life but fill your pockets and once the fight is over so are they. And when you are in your mid 40s but can barely do anything or barely talk right or are punch drunk the only thing those fans are good for is talking about how sorry they are at how your life turned out because you were a true "warrior".

So getting starched in one and getting critisized is better in the long run then taking a beating for 12 rounds ending up punch drunk but hey at least people will still call you a 'warrior'

Honestly, I think the whole warrior thing is overrated.

if you don't believe me ask Gerald McClennan, or ask Billy Collins' or Leavander Johnston's parents rather they'd wished their child was knocked out by one punch in the first round rather then taking a beating for 12 rounds and had they been knocked out in one round as opposed to the other maybe you'd be able to ask them yourself.

The ref stopped the fight instead of counting to 10

Lewis has been floored twice in his career. Both times the ref stopped him and both times he got revenge.

When someone is Knocked out real early it can be an embarrassment or a wake up call that you were not ready and could be hurt. To take a beating and do your best hearing that final bell means that you knew you would make it to the end. My contention is not to hear oops form an early departure in my future and adapt so that I would not get too hurt and make that opponent remember that I wasn't easy so I am guilty of pride through pain.
