I had long thought, prior to this fight, that pac would win against Mayweather based upon his aggression and multiple angles / accuracy. However after seeing this fight I sadly (I love to see Mayweather fight, just not a fan personally) believe that Mayweather would win fairly easily.

Pac could not turn off his aggression which allows him to look fairly bad against great counter-punchers like Marquez and ultimately the best counter-puncher, Mayweather.

I know a lot of people are disappointed in the results of this fight (Marquez vs. Pac), however I thought it was one of the most exciting fights I have seen in a while!

Also for those that don't believe that styles make fights, and that everyone has their kryptonite, I will remind you of Jones Jr and Tarver....

I agree. I have visited this forum for a while and LOVE boxing. Though a typical reader, I couldn't help but throw my own 2 cents in on this one.

I am very interested in others opinions either way. Regardless of who you think won, I believe it was a great fight, great chess match!

The first 2 fights I always kept my mouth closed because they realistically could have went to either fighter so it gives the judges a lot of discretion. No robbery in those. But this fight JMM clearly outboxed Pac and had him whiffing and frustrated. Even Roach told Pac he was behind. Can even the biggest Pac boy agree/lie with Pac winning 8 rounds? Well, in the end we'll get our usual arguments and the people who saw Pac winning will keep their stance and while this time JMM really did get robbed and has a right to place one of those shirts on Pac, Roach, Arum, and the rest of the team. Tonight boxing proved it really is business before anything.
What? Manny Landed more punches and Power punches. Check Compubox sucka! To be the man you have to beat the man! Marquez didn't deserve to win.. He could have yes had he pressed the fight.. This was not one of Manny's bet showings but he still won.. Bring on D-Bag Gayweather!
Punchstats don't mean jack as i said Spinks landed more punches than Holmes, in there 2nd fight and thats considered a huge robbery. By going what i see with my own eyes JMM clearly won the fight.
So then why does everyone that says Marquez won the first two fights use stats as an argument that he won? The stats have meaning you just don't agree in this fight they do. Marquez lost this fight and it was was his weakest performance of the three. I was bored out of my mind the first 4 rounds.

Nobody in their right mind thinks Manny won that. Since when do you hear an audience booing like that? People know a robbery when they see one.
Miles he is a Manny fan riding coat tails he has to back his man, about 90% of them will.

The rest including the Authorities and Judges are backing a future fight with Floyd who we now know will make Manny look worse than he did tonight.

anyone citing compubox punch stats needs to take them with a grain of salt.

they said after kirkland/angulo that angulo was 37 of 74 in the first round. Just for fun I counted the number of punches that Angulo threw from the second Kirkland got up from the knockdown till the 1:08 mark of round 1. It was over 80. Add in the 18-20 Angulo threw before Kirkland went down, and the few punches Angulo attemped in the final 1:08 of hte round and compubox was only off by about 30 or so punches.

Their punch stats missed 30 or so punches.

For the Haye vs Valuev fight, they had Haye throwing 144 punches or 12 punches a round. So if a guy only throws 12 punches a round you would figure they would be pretty damn accurate. Well, a coouple of people actually watched the fight and counted and they were off. Haye threw 13 punches a round. So in a fight where a guy threw 13 punches per round (which is so few my 4 yr old son could count them), compubox was off by 12 total punches. That is pretty pathetic.

You also count a fight on a round by round basis. The overall punch count is oftentimes a pretty irrelevant statistic. It also doesn't highlight where the effective power shots are landed either. Everything is counted the same and that isn't how you score a fight.

The last thing HBO wants is to have the house fighter, who has tons of followers throwing $$$$$$$$ into the Vegas casinos, lose. They also don't want any controversy about the win.

Lederman, Lampley,et al are strictly stooges for them

Yes. They track "POWER PUNCHES" Manny landed more.. Not much more but more nuntheless,,

He was the busy fighter of the two.. And he was the Champ.. You always have to beat the champ convincingly.. It;s been that way forever.. I've already said that..
And Marquez didn't so he lost... NEXT!
