This thread should be stickied until the day Cortez retires, because if he's allowed to ref another big fight you know there will be more bullshit to come.
Guess who is refereeing Klitschko-Tony Thompson?
What, are you kidding me??Bad enough he has marred his last title ( Interim) fight and now he gets rewarded with one of the most premiere events in sports....a heavy weight title fight![]()
I think he seriously needs a 'rest' and to be evaluated!!
That's fairly interesting. I don't anticipate there being to much clinching but if there is (certainly not out of the question, it is Wlad, they are heavyweights), I wonder how he deals with it.
I'm looking for Thompson to make this a good fight, teetering on picking the upset in fact but if it is that type of fight, the chances of a ref being a factor are increased.
He is a joke
The fight he ref'd the other week on the Pac undercard.....disgraceful.
I don't know what annoyed me more, the farce before the dq (which was also a farce) or the fact he let them 2 fookers hold and maul eachother, without stepping into break them. Shit as soon as Hatton tried to do anything on the inside, Cortez grabbed his arm.
I don't know if it's bias or just pure shiteness.
I think maybe he should change his catchphrase to something like
"I have no clue of what to do if the going gets tough"
"I will go out of my way to referee every fight in a different way depending which would get me more attention"
"Guys please don't do anything outside the rules, as you never know how I will react, and neither do I"
"If I am not sure what to do I will seek advice from the front row"
The guy is a joke
....funny how people used to talk about Jay Nady and Randy Neuman in the same way and now it's only Cortez
I would rather someone like Eddie Cotton or Smoger or someone like that ref the fight.
Now is the hatred for Cortez only because of the Ricky Hatton-Floyd Mayweather Jr. fightThat's pretty sad if it is
It's not one fight it has been an accumulation of fights, he is just not consistent, i would have had no problem with the Hatton fight if he referee'd all of his fights like that, but it seems one rule for one and one rule for another, then he is soooo arrogant when questioned on his decisions, the one that tipped me over the edge is the Soto fight, that was just a joke and how an idiot like that can have such an effect on a professionals career.
He draws to much attention to himself and hardly ever in a good way
