I've just finished watching the re-run of the Hatton v Mayweather fight and Joe Cortez was disgraceful.

As I say I'm not a big fan of either of these two fighters, please allow me to go on.

When any 2 fighters train and get ready for a bout and especially the most important fight of their lives you must be given a fair chance because they may not be given another opportunity again.

By any stage of the imagination I'm not suggesting Hatton would have won this bout if what I'm about to state was different but he would have had a better chance.

There was no need for Cortez to keep stepping early in the fight and how many times did he warn Mayweather for the elbow/forearm but never took a point off.

He also said during one of the rounds "when you get inside, don't hit him" what?

Then he went over to Hatton's corner and said "i'm gonna have to start taking some points off" they said "you allready have"

I just think if Hatton was allowed to fight his fight early on and without the constence nagging from Cortez, Hatton would have felt a little more composed and felt yes he has a genuine chance but Cortez denied him.

Mayweather kept turning to the side which is fine, but turning 3 quarter nearly turning you back is not fine and Cortez should have warned him of that.

There was a round when Hatton came in with a Jab turned turned straight left and he caught Floyd, he then came in and attempted to work on the inside, and Cortez broke them and if you watch carefully he actually stops Hatton.

Cortez should retire as I just think he was unfair and denied a person (Hatton in this case) a fair chance.

Like I said I don't know if Hatton would have won, becuase in all fairness he was very much in the fight until even round 7 or 8 but having the point deducted and having to fight the ref as well most definately frustrated Hatton, Hatton's work could have been alot better and subtle I think Hatton addmitted after he didn't stick to his original plan.

The point is the ref Joe Cortez was firm but NOT fair and I think Hatton deserved and has the ability to have taken this to points!

I'm not bitter and I'm not a Floyd Hater

Yes I don't believe Floyd is the greatest of all-time, that is just ridiculous, and I don't believe he is in the top ten all=time greats.

Yes he has some good names on his CV, and he is definately one of the best in the modern era but that's about it.
