All that said, I do think he was more talented than Hatton, just not as well managed

Not only that but he had very quality fights vs De la Hoya and Trinidad, it's not like he ever got totally smoked by somebody. Tito nearly took him out in the first but he fought back in a very capable manner and won his fair share of rounds in that fight. Sure he was lackluster vs Mosley and Mayorga but at the end of the day it was because like Ricky, Fernando liked to eat a bit and that and his lack of style after he fell in love with his power took it's toll on him.

Agreed 100%. He fought tough, classic fights against sure future HOF'ers. I think he was a bit mismanaged, #1... plus, he also had some tough luck in coming up against some rising young legends.Not only that but he had very quality fights vs De la Hoya and Trinidad, it's not like he ever got totally smoked by somebody.
