It's better for the tournament if he does pull out.

The semi finals are a ridiculous idea anyway imo, having Andre Ward fighting a guy who has lost his last two fights, and Froch against an old war horse, the wrong side of 40 who wasn't even one of the original replacements let alone original competitor.

It's Froch vs Ward for the final. Anything else is just farce.
I actually agree here and then the winner face Bute. However, Johnson v. Froch could be a fun fight to watch too.

I think it would be a sensible idea. He must know there is no way he beats Ward, especially going into it at the lowest point of his career.

If he moves back to middleweight there are guys like Felix Sturm and Sebastian Slyvester who hold world titles. I'm sure Abraham can still beat those guys.

    Arthur Abraham Update

Former IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham told BILD that he’s just not a super middleweight. “The others are simply larger. I’m always the smallest,” he stated. King Arthur added that he will still be challenging Andre Ward for the WBA super middleweight title in the Super Six semi-final and will remain with trainer Uli Wegner.

Am I the first person to ask for a source

I've seen nothing on the web apart from forum rumours that he's quitting, so I suspect he'll stay in. He has a puncher's chance against Ward, but he'll make more money from this fight then he would elsewhere right now.

whooooaaaa, thats even more complex than the original set up
I'm just saying, even after the Super 6 is over, there is still not a clear kingpin at supermiddle!!! Bute is a beast and been impressive before the tourney even started. Besides, who would you rather see
    Bute vs Ward or Froch
    or
    Johnson vs Ward or Froch

Damn, I just saw what I wrote!!! Johnson vs Bute on Showtime

This whole round robin thing drove me nuts from the start. They should have started with eight and after the first round they would have been left with four winners and after the second round 2 winners, then the final.

Agreed. I saw that AA said in a interview after the Froch fight that he wouldn't quit because he is a fair sports man. Plus the Sturm fight etc. will be available once he's done losing to Ward.

i had this discussion with someone else before and I think the winner of the super 6 has to be considered the best in the division

and yes id like to see them in with bute at some point, but until bute beats them he cant be considered the best

Bute looks really good dont get me wrong but his record doesnt suggest he is the best in the division at the minute

a couple of wins over miranda and one over bika (although he did it in style) doesnt exactly say hes the best of the best

I just hope AA stops Ward... Someone.. ANYONE. I just can't stand watching his style of fighting. Maybe through some miracle we'll see Froch face Bute while having his banshee of a gf banned from the event.

He is not quitting he is sticking it out as promised...He stated "I am a sportsman, and I made an obligation to fight in this tournament so I will finish it out take a rest then more then likely move to MW once again....

Gotta give the man credit for fighting bouts he may lose knowingly but will continue because he made an obligation.....I would like to see him bk at MW...I thought from the beginning with the exception of his power the SMW were too big for him....Some of those guys are 6"1 or taller with 5-6 in reaqch advantages over him...Not to mention the weight difference on fight day

I think he needs to change something, but its not weight class. He was having trouble making middleweight, if I remember thats why he moved up. Dirrell exposed him. When you outwork him and dont exchange with him, move in and out, he pretty much just covers up first, then chases off balance. I think he does need a new trrainer, because his Winky Wright impersonation isnt working any more.

So the thread is titled 'AA quits the Super 6", but every piece of verified information in this thread indicates otherwise? I'm changing the title.

I wish you would since people only read a few posts in a thread and conclude he's quitting when he has stated he will continue with the super six and the Ward fight.

AA continues in the Super 6 reflects what Abraham has said.

I picked AA to win against Froch but my score card gave every single round to Froch with no pity rounds to AA because he did more in one round or another then he did the whole fight.
