The black stereo type huh?? What exactly is the stereo type exactly? As a black man myself I am rather curious and perhaps you could enlighten me.
Stereotypically they love fried chicken and kool-aid too.
I figured that. But really I just wanted to point out the irony of why a stereo type even exists. The stereo type exists because of the negative opinions others have. Whether there is any truth to it or not, the stereotype need not even really be a negative trait in and of itself, rather it as preceived as such by certain individuals who do do not agree with people who are different then themselves in the first place. If someone holds a stereo type, it really says something about that person actually.

Specifically it says "Those people are different from me for ____ and ____ reasons. I don't like things are different, therefore it must be wrong.
Stereotypes exist because people don't have a full understanding. Everyone will stereotype at some point.

In what Floyd did i can see why people make the link with stereotypes I mean there he was shouting curses in the face of an old man with his manager and trainers backing him up like some sort of gang on the streets.

He should be in court. I still stand by that. It's not an over reaction. What if Merchant had a heart attack?

There are just a few seperate stories, all of them involved much younger than Larry Merchant.

I truly found it, and still do, absolutely sickening.

Floyd is also currently on eight seperate charges of domestic violence. If that was a normal guy in public on that many charges acting that way they absolutely would be in court.

So you think that Floyd Mayweather should be hauled up in court becasue he shouted at an 80 year old man who went on to threaten him because it might have caused the old man to have a heart attack simply because he has existing charges against him (which have not yet come to trial) and is a role model.

All this, despite the fact that

    a) No crime has been committed (except perhaps by Merchant)
    b) On law both sides of the Atlantic men are innocent until proven guilty
    c) NOTHING ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO THE OLD MAN!!!

All I can say is: thank god you are too stupid to be a member of the judiciary in the Western world. If that is really what you think you should move to a bananna republic where there is no need for a judicial system and can just shoot people you don't like.

You are so much worse than Mayweather - you come accross like a Daily Mail reading "outraged from Tunbridge Wells" and I'm going to stay on your case now because you deserve it. You have no grace, no detachment; no recognition that you could be wrong and no excuse that it happened in the heat of the moment - unlike Mayweather. Give me him over you and your tabloid judgement any day.
    Huh

I hate the tabloids actually. It's because of the media that Floyd gets a platform for this kind of shit.

He behaved disgracefully and he should be punished for it. I fully expect HBO and the whatever boxing board that sanctioned that fight to levy a heavy (by our standards, obviously not his) fine on him for his outburst.

Floyd has a long history of being a dick, just watch the recent 24/7 or any of the hundreds of videos of him on youtube threatening people or flashing his cash in his private life.

As a role model who earns hundreds of millions of pounds from the paying public he should be held accountable for his actions.
I get your point Bilbo but there is simply no such requirement. And that goes for all rich and famous people. Better not to try to make them into role models in the first place. You know many of the rich and famous mess up. For better or for worse, they should not be role models. They are simply entertainers... and human beings.

Yeah, but seriously... and I mean very seriously. It's not like only black people do that, so the whole stereotype argument really doesn't hold water. It is just that others have that false view of how blacks act. Just because there are a few bad apples does not mean that logic goes completely MIA. The people who have stereo types are just as guilty as those who so-called re-enforce them.

True, but Floyd's behavior is still not specific to black people in particular. Being an asshole definitely is not. That is universal. So if a stereo type is bs, I feel compelled to call someone on it, less more people start to accept such nonsense.

I have mixed feelings, I like Larry well enough but he can be annoying as hell. Mayweather went a little overboard in the post fight interview, but I can kinda see where he's coming from, end of story.

As for the 'ole fart Merchant being disrespected and/or "abused" by Floyd, boxing is a young man's game, perhaps he shouldn't be sticking his nose where it doesn't belong. BTW, i'm a longtime Mayweather hater, just saying, this kinda shit goes with the territory, if you can't stand the heat, get the fuck outta the kitchen.

I think the whole thing is staged. Since jump, floyd could have went the Sugar Ray Leonard route, nice smile, cereal boxes, and been the nice guy, but his camp figured that being an asshole/clown/villain/ would net him more money. It also in a way keeps him on his toes because most people just tune in because it might be the night that he gets knocked the fuck out, so in knowing that it kinda retards the natural complancency with being on top for so long. The thing with Merchant seems to be a spin off the Ali/Cosell thing. And since floyd did the WWE thing a few years back he seemed to have taken even more of that method and use it to promote his fights. Even Schaffer standing in the ring the other night looked like Vince McMahon. They're thinking "MAN WE'RE GOING ALL RETIRE OFF OF THIS PAC-FLOYD MEGA FIGHT in 2012"... If they charged 60-70 bucks for the Ortiz fight, then FLoyd Pac will be 99.99 and they both will make over 100million... Everything is staged and too bad the fight will actually be the least entertaining of it all, becaue floyd will still win a lopsided UD over PAC....

There are lines that just should not be crossed, and what Floyd said, on American's biggest family network was disgusting imo. I just can't imagine it happening over here in the UK at all.

If a British fighter had started mouthing off like that to Henry Cooper, or maybe a Formula One driver to Murray Walker he would be completely and utterly ostracized.

I'm just amazed that people seem to be accepting of it.

The bolded text is your answer...We Americans have gotten so arrogant and pompous that we dont even respect the old and not only that its absurd to even question it because its looked at like a normal thing.

Im including myself in this because I'm American but not because I'm proud of the behavior.

Did that seem like a rant?? If it did, wasn't meant to be, it's just becoming a big YAWN.... Actually will be glad when the whole floyd chapter is closed. Been a supporter of his since then olympics, but I certainly won't miss him when he's done.
