Shame the the Eubanks did a press conference and I interview. I would have thought at this sensitive time would be to keep low profile and see how the other fighter recovers.
The ref did a fine job. Blackwell was not for breaking down.

So... Is he out of the coma?
Is his life in the clear?
Anyone know his status?
I've been thinking this, I know the family said his recovery would be private but surely there would have been news to say he was out of the coma.
I don't know enough about this kind of stuff, I know that it was an induced coma to help the swelling go down but is it a case of the longer he is in it the worse things are looking or does the reduction of swelling just vary from person to person?
Poor Kid his whole way of life is over even if its saved,he now has so much to face no use blaming this on this or that, but really I feel if more can be done to avoid these things in the future through some means then some good may come of it.
'The biggest fight of his life'
As well as wishing 25-year-old Blackwell a full recovery, Oliver also hopes the Wiltshire middleweight will find "direction in life" in the future.
"This is a young kid who is at the top of his career and it's going to all be taken away from him," Oliver said. "He's a kid that is on his way up. It's going to be very difficult for him.
"For me, to be told I could never box again was very, very difficult. Every boxer wakes up, trains, trains again and then goes back to sleep, so there is a massive hole in your life that you have to fill."
Oliver continued: "For Nick, who is currently in the biggest fight of his life there battling away in hospital - and please God, he comes through and makes a full recovery. He will need to then find some direction in life."
Well at least it may make those who are in control over duty of care to fighters, to maybe look further into individual fighters and how all are not the same, there is a big difference between fighting with your heart and with your head. If good can come of this for future better protection and awareness I dont see the problem some have with it being in a spotlight. It wont effect the sport this will all be forgotten in a months time publicly, if Blackwell is walking around ok.
I cant remember; did the doctor shine a light on his pupils or just check his damage out? Walk straight over here for me. Finger counts, whats your date of birth son or what month are we in?All that stuff could be done very fast every time if a fighter is walking into all the harder shots.
Good thought. Unless theres a total flogging going early on,why not check them out between the 6th and 12th of a hard fight, it wouldnt take more than 5 seconds each even the fans wouldnt notice it going on between rounds and to do both fighters would keep any thoughts of steering judges at bay.
I'm all for anything that makes Boxing safer ultimately and if this works , then Brilliant.
I'm not a medical person, but I'm just wondering if the doc had been shining the light in Nick Blackwell's eye between rounds, would it show that his pupils were dilated? Or is this something that happens suddenly?
Somebody with a medical Knowledge is needed here because as I said earlier, immediately after the fight he looked in no discomfort when he was talking to Eubank Sr.
I'm not against this, just wondering if it would help avoid a tragedy.
I think its the reaction to them pinholing from the light.
Ok. Well if it helps, why not?
Yes it's the reaction to the light, or lack of that indicates an issue (fixed and dilated). Good call on that by the way, would take seconds mid way through a fight.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

The doctor can predict serious brain trauma by looking in the eye? Surely there's a limit to what they can determine? Blackwell was still talking to everyone when stretcherd out.
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
Its the Iris mate, in a concussed brain the pupil remains the same size when light is shone into it as the iris is unusually slow to react to light opening and closing. Its usually one eye that goes out opposite to the side the damage is on as each eye is connected with leads that cross into opposite sides of the brain.
Its an initial check for many things, stroke too. As well as being able to answer simple questions. So could be an idea for refs to check a few answers when they go into the fighters change rooms separately prior to fight. Whats the date today? Do you know your mothers maiden name, how many siblings you got etc.
If they cant answer the same questions as easy in between some hard rounds they probably got their bolts shaken loose and need to be watched a touch closer.
