You actually think that the Brits have had more success than Americans? Please give me a good argument. I understand there are many more people living in America than in the UK, but I think it's pretty obvious that Americans have had way more success than Brits at boxing.
I mean really, name me the 5 best fighters out of the whole UK in the past 30 years and I bet it won't even come close to the best Americans. Again, I realize the population difference, but I'm having trouble finding truly elite fighters from over there.
I'm neutral on this, and at the moment, it's a close run thing depending how you judge it, because it can be done to suit your own argument.
I would probably guess that the 5 top Americans are
Ward
Crawford
Mikey Garcia
Thurman
Wilder
The 5 top Brits are probably
AJ
Frampton
Brook
DeGale (?)
Selby (?)
It's only what I think and going on that, you would have to say America, but I think it's better if an American picks their top 5 and a Brit picks theirs. Then we can pick the bones out of it.
Perhaps it should be a different thread, I think it could be fun! 😄

Santa Cruz is Mexican, they can't have him.
Good idea for a thread though, back in the day when this place was heaving it would have caused carnage. Most American's didn't even know boxers from outside the States existed. Many used to argue that any fight not in America means nothing.
Anyone that said Joe Calzaghe was a brilliant fighter got ridiculed and told "you don't know shit about boxing" before he smashed one of their "stars" into a million pieces. Then they all started to reveal that in fact they had never seen Calzaghe fight before. They were literally calling Calzaghe shit because he wasn't from the States.
Thank fuck boxing is now a globally viewed sport.

I wouldn't put Wilder in there because he is good for this HW division but he isn't a great fighter overall. There are tons of smaller fighters better than him. I would say it's between Jacobs and Garcia. Maybe jermall charlo but he is a little less proven. Also, Bradley could be in there too but he needs to fight again to prove that he still has it.
Ward and Crawford would be the top two if they were British, so America wins in that department. If you judged the best fighter in every division Britain would probably come out on top (Haven't looked, but can't think of many top American's in the lighter weights, Gary Russell Jr? Oscar Valdez? However, they're in Frampton, SElby and Quigg's division, so it would be close.

Hang on , am I missing something or are you putting 25 names down?
We're looking for top 5. Like I said at the start, it depends how you work it out as to what result you want, and the one fighter in each division theory is evidence of that.
The reason we're doing top 5 is because that is what @Batman said.
Good stuff guys. Off the top I wouldn't have Wilder anywhere near a top five. Santa Cruz should skate by immigration and customs for me . He debuted in the U.S, lives in the U.S and came up in 'murica jr Olympics since he was a teenager. Not sure he cracks top 5 though... could be scramble of
Crawford
Ward
Garcia
Santa Cruz
Lara? Hey he just got his citizenship and lives in Texas of all places
Jermall Charlo
Thurman
Spence jr
Russell Jr
Andrade
Derevyanchenko..hey I see a flag so we're taking him!
