...ummm don't have too much to say to that other than you know very little of boxing and you're gay.

Many people complain about the clinching Wlad does, let's compare shall we?

John Ruiz: holds for no other reason than his boxing skills are crap and that's the only way he can win

Wladimir Klitschko: much like the Manny Steward trained LENNOX LEWIS holds and pushes for tactical reasons which make him all the more dominant.

Don't complain about Sam Peter losing, he lost because he's one sided and Wlad is an all around better offensive fighter. Wlad hits harder, Wlad is more accurate, Wlad has a variety of punches in his arsenal unlike Peter who can't jab, uppercut, or throw a decent right cross...he can throw very wide slow punches that are reminiscent of Butterbean.

Do you remember what happened when Byrd faced “The Big 0 (zero),” Fres Oquendo? If you were able to stay awake, clearly Fres won.

117-111 for Byrd? Did they score it in Braille? The NYPD marked it a felony.

What about that life-and-death struggle when Byrd cooked the “Polish Sausage,” Andrew Golota -- the same Golota that was a deer in the headlights against Brewster.

    Byrd’s been shot for years!

Hell, even in their first match, Ivan Drago’s little brother plucked the Byrd Man in 12. So why, 13 years into his pro career -- WAAAAAAY past his prime, is a victory over Byrd such a big deal?

Let’s not forget that Wlad needed a life raft to survive 10 rounds with the one-hit wonder: Samuel Peter. Klitschko clutched more then a teenage couple in back of a Thunderbird. What about all the conspiracy theories floated by Team Klitschko after he self-destructed against Brewster.

Was the mystery man that drugged him ever unearthed? Or is he still on a grassy knoll in Dallas?

That Vaseline theory they conjured up was a doozy. The latest batch of K-Y jelly has a new warning label with Joe Souza’s picture: “Overuse can cause a sudden loss in courage.”

So, tell me, somebody, why should I buy into the Klitschko hype? I made a career of blasting Roy Jones for fighting Civil Service workers. What should my theory be on Wladimir losing to a golfer? The only real debate should be: who’d the favorite be against Tiger Woods?

This white supremacy nonsense is getting ridiculous. It won’t be long before Wlad’s footwork is better then Muhammad Ali, his jab’s better then Larry Holmes, and his right’s deadlier then Thomas Hearns.

Saturday night proved nothing, other then Wlad stepped on a pigeon.

    Give me a break!

So what’s next for Wlad? Since older brother “peg leg” limped away from Hassim Rahman - he should be first on the list. But I’m sure it will be some mega-bout matching two giant Russians in Germany, and we’ll all have to go to Berlitz to learn who the winner is.

    Lennox, we miss you.

Let me just say this...& I hate to comment so harshly on someone's writing...but this is utter bullshat!

That's the most anti-Klitschko/anti-boxing fan crap that I have ever read.

Look...I aint 100% for Wlad...but he did something that no one else has done...he knocked Byrd's ass out.

Ike Ibeabuchi dropped him & TKO'd him...but that was nowhere near the brutal beatdown that Wlad gave him.

For all his detractors out there...this guy included...Byrd was a fantastic boxer & a true practioner of the sweet science (cliche' intended) from his toes to the tips of his corn rowed mane.

Wlad outboxed him & outpunched him to the end of the fight...that is commendable...no matter what your opinion be of Wlad.

It's cool Wacko, I mean Sam Peter does have some die hard fans out there and I still occassionally sip from a jar filled with their tears from when Wlad whipped him to quench my thrist.

he didn't KO Byrd, the fight was stopped. Secondly, Ibeabuchi did it in Byrd's prime. Third, I don't hate Wlad. I like Wlad and would root for him against Rahman or most other heavyweights. I just don't like the fact that people are acting like he beat Lennox Lewis or something. He beat a guy who probably should have more loses on his record and was ready to go. It's a win for Wlad, but let's not make it out to be more then what it is.

He beat a guy that no one has convincingly beaten in the end.

He beat a guy that had a belt & he knocked his ass out...however you want to deemphasize that...you may try.

Again...he beat a guy that was marketed as the savior of the heavyweight division, he then beat a champion that no one else was able to beat, & everyone had Wlad written out of the picture.

If you want to bash him into the ground...then have fun...but Wlad's got as many ups as he does down...you just neglect to bring that to the page.

Really? Why do you reject the Ibeabuchi destruction? I think Golota beat him good too.

nobody denies he beat a guy with the belt.

I'm not sure how I bashed him? I said he made 100 excuses why he lost- fact
he held for Peter like crazy - fact
he lost to a golfer - fact

    is he legit - maybe
does he have a good right hand - yes
does he have something to prove - yes

Personally, I found the article hillarious. Not because it was bullshit... I think a lot of it is true just put a little strongly perhaps. I think the truths are in there, just overemphasized.

I think people who take this win away from Wlad though are forgetting just how crappy this heavyweight division is. Look at what Wlad has ahead of him............ I'm still looking and don't see much.

that's pure nonesense. Ruiz, Klitchko and Lewis all hold for the same reasons. Because THEIR CHINS ARE MUSH. Hence the only way of avoiding getting hit at close quarters is via the clinch.

Ruiz did it against Holyfield. Lewis did it against Tua, and Tyson, and Wladimir did it against Peters and somewhat against Byrd.

"Hold and Pushes for tactical reasons" HAHAHAHEHEHEHEHEHHAAHEHEHALOL the way you say that, you should be into politics.

Holding and Pushing has always been a favorite recommendation of manny steward. It keeps those short powerful arms, of those short stocky boxers away from unleashing brutal combinations on the chiny chin chin of his tall hevies.

Ruiz likewise does this. And he is quite sensible for doing this, since being obliterated by Tua in what 10 seconds.

There all the same. Its just that Ruiz doesn't give beautiful KOES. Actually he doesn't KO anyone. He jabs and clinches his way to victories.

I'm glad you found it to be funny. That's the way it's supposed to be taken. It's presented in a "in your face" style.

Nooo... he messed up byrd's eye to the point the ref stopped it, Byrd has never been knocked out and never will be.

Ike Ibeabuchi dropped him & TKO'd him
that's what Wladimer did, but its an overstatement to say he knocked Byrd out. He beat the Holy hell out of Byrd and TKO'd him, but he didn't knock him out.

Wlad outboxed him & outpunched him to the end of the fight...that is commendable...no matter what your opinion be of Wlad.
Opinion of Wlad has nothing to do with it, its the pre opinion of Byrd I believe. Credit is due, but give it to both sisdes(not you wacko) everyone.

I sort of agree both ways Wacko. You yourself didn't give Byrd a shot in hell at winning so it was more or less what you expected, and just because you were a round off shouldn't shock you

Wlad should get credit for beating Byrd, but then again about 99 people predicted it. I think it's saying don't overcredit Wlad. Thats what I think the main thing is.

agreed, it was a good win but really most people expected it. Wlad gave him a boxing lesson the last time they fought so this time he had to go one step better and stop him, which he did well. But to me it's really not that big a win in the heavyweight scene, but at least its a start
