Default What hasn't been mentioned about the Hatton vs Collazo fight

Having read lots of views one of the most important points has been missed.

The fight was close, it could have gone either way. The first round was a 10-8 round, why Collazo looked at the ref as though to say "it was a slip" or "I'm not hurt" was invalid, he was caught off balance and knocked down.

I thought this when watching live & then when I re-watched, so I ask you all to re-view with this in mind.

Everytime Hatton got in close the ref pushed Hatton away. Sometimes the ref is called on to do so but it happened so frequently it spoiled the fight, both fighters could have "punched their way out" as most competent referees shout!

This all played into Collazo's hands as Hatton then had to go through Collazo's longer reach again and get pushed back by the ref again!

Watch how out of 10 times the ref "brakes it up" he pushes Hatton and not Collazo.

The ref made the fight harder for Hatton, end of story.

What about Collazo's corners desperate bid to get him a much needed breather against the constant pressure of Hatton.
Oh look, his glove has come unbound again, better have a rest pal. Oldest trick in the book ala Angelo Dundee vs Enery's 'Ammer.
I thought Ricky should have started to push back against the refs hands and start getting the drop on Collazo.
The ref was very inexperienced and he policed the fight too much.
Let them fight their way out when they are both still trying to connect.
Collazo got a big helping hand there, i'd like to see how he gets on in Manchester.
He would get knocked the F**K out.

Even so, Ricky was moving up a weight and fighting a quality southpaw for the first time in a long time and he still got the result.

It is a sign of a champion in any sport that they can have a bad night and still get the right result.

I Have always said, The Ref will be hattons downfall in the U.S..

The U.S does NOT let fighters try to work their way out of a Clinch( Me saying that, and being a boxer in the U.S) They break it up and start it all over and ths is the only reason hatton will ever loose.

Had that ref let hatton try to work his way on the inside like he always does, We would NOT be discussing last nights fight this way.
