Great american football player, and a terrific foot speed, but how is he in the ring? Is he lightning fast? POwerful? Ring savy? He said he's been fighting since he was 8-9 years old.

Yeah, they had an article here in the newspaper..they were talking about how Notre Dame is encouraging 2 sport players...and Notre Dame is a whore when it comes to publicity...and yeah he's been fighting for awhile but nothing spectacular...he fought a bum..and won..what a shocker.....Of course he got he arse stomped when ND played THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!Originally Posted by Taeth

I know he fought a bum, and had like a 10 minute ring entrance which cooled down his opponent, but my question is how fast is he?
He's fast. He's a bit all over the place and lunges with his punches but he has potential.
He aint good enough to give it 50% .
All the way live it love it eat and drink it or go away .
Champions need to give it 100% if he wants to be another Butterbean style attration then by all means carry on .
What are you on about Gordy?
He doesn't have football practice in the summer, he has a football camp then goes to train with Angelo Dundee. So by all means he's in shape...more so than Butterbean.
He said that if he is going to the NFL then he won't be a pro boxer but he'll still work out, but if football doesn't work out he's going to go for broke with boxing.
THE Ohio State sucks...I'm no great Notre Dame fan but I sure as hell hate OSU
I thought he has some potential. He is small for a heavyweight, but he looked comfortable in ring. It will all depend on how his football career goes.

So he has a great coach for skilled fighters, and he is probably the most athletic man in boxing(maybe not in the ways of boxing but overall). If his football career doesn't work out can he revive the heavyweight division or is he too small?
I think he would be to small for a heavyweight, he is only 5'11". I think he came into the fight at just over 210lbs, so I would think that if he continued after college with boxing he would drop some weight and go down to cruiser.Originally Posted by Taeth

Umm..way to early. We saw basically 2 punches. He lunged with his punches and he smothered the guy when he was hurt. If the guy was a veteran he would have easily held. But it was only his first fight. I will definitely have my eye on though. He seemed to know what he was doing and he had some good footwork but it was only 43 seconds. Wait about 10 fights.Originally Posted by Taeth

Roy Jones Jr. played at boxing... he hardly ever gave a fight a 100%.Originally Posted by Swashbuckling Gordy
yeah...anybody that can play in a professional basketball game and then fight that night is not taking the boxing match seriously....but man was he great in his prime!!..Originally Posted by Taeth

A fine football player, team leader, i.e, captain, and a scholar/athlete. He is also a gentleman and will have a baccalaureate from a top notch university soon. If he came down to cruiserweight, there would be great excitement in that division; he has charisma and a following. Zbikowski is great for boxing, and I look forward to seeing him again, whether it is summer work or not. Sometimes it makes one think that it is clean-cut bright athletes that some resent. Hm?![]()
