Default Round by Round Rahman vs Maskaev courtesy of YoitsDan in absence of Wacko.

    Alright people...

Wacko is currently out of town at the moment...but damn you all...I am rushing back to do the RBR for the Rahman Maskaev fight.

That being said...I am on my mother in law's computer...so this intro is going to be short & most likely...not so sweet.

I had the whole presentation done up at home...but home is over an hour away...so this is as good as it get's...so please...talk amongst yourselves. I'll be getting in, just barely in time to cover the big fight... & couldn't make it back in time...so Dan covered the fight in my absence.

Here's the way that I see it:

Tonight at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada Hasim Rahman ( 41 wins with 33 ko's, 5 losses, & 2 draws) faces former conqueror Oleg Maskaev (32 wins with 25 ko's & 5 losses) over the right to either remain or become the WBC's champion. Oh bwoy!!!

I don't have time to do the factors in either fighter's favor BUT...I do think that at this point in his career...Rahman is going to come out on top due to the fact that Maskaev, IWO, is a bit to old & unmotivated for such a fight.

Rahman by either late TKO or a stinker of a decision....but I was wrong.

Break out the boozes & alla that S***! Cheers & koneecheewah bitches.

I'll do a breakdown of the fight as it goes then for you wacko

    Rahman Strengths

    -Power
    -Natural Takent
    -Experience
    -Good Jab
    -Has the tools and ability
    -Heart

    Rahman Weaknesses

    -WYSIWYG chin
    -Can be a plodder
    -Leans with his punches
    -Balance
-Has the tools, but how often does he use them?
    -Defnese could use improvement
    -Focus
-Tends to fight down to the level of opposition

    Breakdown:

Rahman may very well be one of the three most "talented" Heavyweights out there, along with James Toney, Wladimer Klitschko. The problem is that Rahman doesn't make his talen as aparent as those three. Rahman has the ability and talent to be a legit threat to ANYONE in the Heavyweight division IF he used all of his talent, but he tends to make things harder for himself then he actually needs to and has tendency to fight down to the level of his opposition when everybody knows he can do better and it makes it harder on him then it needs to be. So Rahman's main weakness is focus and the ability to fight down to the level of his opposition rather then fight above them like his talent should allow.

    Maskaev Strengths

    -Power in his right hand
    -Patience
    -Deceptive defense
    -Underestimated counter puncher

    Maskaev Weaknesses

    -Chin
-Has dendency to square up and leave his chin in the air
    -Can become lethargic
-Can be known to not do enough
    -Sometimes too patient
-Doesn't like to go into the trenches and likes things his way, when they arent he has tendency to fall apart

    Breakdown:

What can I say about Maskaev other then he's a puzzle. He has a very deceptive style thats very patient sometimes too patient, he is a very good counter puncher with a very good grip on the basics. He has a style unlike most European styles, but more of a Kostya Tszyu and Roman Kawmazin style he possesses which is a tricky straight shot style who can take advantage of a fighter being complacent. His weaknesses is that he can wait all day for that to happen and can be outhusted. Maskaev doesn't seem to like being pressured that well either, though he is a skillfull counter puncher, his mindset only keeps him there as long as things are going his way, but as soon as he faces the troubles he may have tendency to fall apart, sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't it depends on if he gets time to recover, but he doesn't like to be pressured which will happen tonight. He will fight a slow pace that makes his opponent fight the same way so he gets them in the end, but if he can't take his opponent out of their game he is open for the punches coming his way.

    What Rahman has to do

    -Pressure
    -Use his jab
    -Keep his hands up
    -Dont lean
    -Don't chase a knockout

    What Maskaev needs to do

    -Be Patient
    -Use his hooks and uppercuts
    -Don't forget the right hand
    -Use the ring

    My Prediction: Rahman MD

Rahman will make this harder on himself then it needs to be.

Well there you go Hope you like my breakdown.

I can't imagine this is doing many numbers, undercard is awful, Soto vs Valle should be an ok fight though. How much is this in usa, $50? ridiculous!
