    WBA sets final Hatton deadline!

The WBA on Tuesday notified welterweight champion Ricky Hatton through an official letter that he has until September 1, 2006 to either send the signed contracts of his mandatory fight against Oktay Urkal or otherwise relinquish the title. So far neither Hatton nor his legal representatives have contacted the WBA nor did they attend the purse bid scheduled last Monday in Panama, which had no bidders at all. After committing to make the first defense of the welterweight title no later than September 13, 2006 against mandatory challenger Urkal, Hatton won the title on May 13 by beating Luis Collazo.

Alright...can someone please tell me just what the hell is going on with Hatton & his people...I thought that he was nailed down to a date with Urango in HotLanta GA this December?

Where is the assault on America shit people!!!

Good question, Wacko....to be honest there are seriously disturbing signs coming from the Hatton camp these days. The Collazo fight seems to have changed things, and Hatton is taking forever to even get near the ring...

Im a fan, but Im as bewildered as anybody....

I am totally confused about the situation too. I believe that the Collazo fight and the way in which Hatton won forced a SERIOUS re think of their plans. I don't think they anticipated Hatton having as many diffculties as he did and maybe it has led to the camp altering their original schedule etc?

Well I reckon its pretty clear (as mud) they want this Urango fight, then Castillo early next year....the Castillo fight is absolutely nailed on to be a cracker.

If it happens (fingers crossed) I bet calls for a Collazo rematch will be long forgotten.

Nah, the Collazo debacle will be remembered a while longer in the minds of those with memories.....Hatton, scraped through that. possibly only a draw....

I think I had Hatton winning the fight but I think it is seen by most as a loss seeing as he moved down in weight straight away. I would rather have seen him give Collazo a rematch but oh well,at least we have JLC fight to look forward to.

Exactly. Hatton is chickenshit for not giving Collazo the rematch he deserves. JLC the infamous weight cheat. Oh lets bring it. Im now so hyped!!!

I'd rather see him rematch Collazo than fight any one else at the moment.

Can't believe people would rather see Hatton Collazo again, over Hatton Castillo

from what i read in the ring august issue (gatti and baldomir on the cover) ricky signed a 3 fight deal with hbo that was designed to set up a mega fight with pbf on his 3rd fight (doesnt look like thats happening now)

i like him personally, but i feel it would be a very bad move for ricky to keep his belt and fight a mandatory because that would be his 2nd hbo fight
he would have to have some mega fight as his 3rd because (bigger than castillo) as good as a fight as that is, it wouldnt produce near the revenues that hbo had in mind when this contract was given to hatton so i doubt that hbo would give him another contract.

if he does defend his belt against his mandatory and fights jlc in his 3rd fight, i would be willing to bet that hatton ends up being a showtime fighter by mid to late 07 (less money and a step back for ricky)

thats assuming he beats jlc, of course
