I personaly like the Pride of Wales. Although his fights are not always pretty, he get's the job done. I enjoy watching him fight. I guess cus he is a south paw his fights are sort of fudged up but I like watching him fight cus he don't look like a fighter. Everytime I watch one of his fights, it's like I am almost watching a movie. I don't know if this makes any sense. Also like Enzo his father.
But his performance against Lacy was primo. He was in the zone that night. Joe has a big heart and he's not a jerk. What is there not to like about him other than that he lives in England and he is Italian

I hate him.....For a long time I just considered him a good fighter who was stuck in a tough division to accomplish much in...For a long time the Super Middles were as ignored as the Cruisers...Then after the Lacy fight his head got to big for himself......Talking about opp ducking him and him needing Superfights and all yet he doesn't seek any out.....I think he is full of you know what...He is a good fighter but not great.......If he wanted a big fight and it mattered to him so much and he really cant get one at Super Middle the go up one or down one and you will find plenty of guys willing and able to give it to you....And try fighting somewhere besides England and Wales...The fights in Germany,Scotland and Denmark dont count really thats the equivelant of going from NY to Vegas...World Champion Means the world not in your yard

    FACTS:

He is half Italian and English descent.

    Born in Hammersmith.

    3 ABA titles.

Barry McGuigan's top tip for 1996 with the following quote: "He punches ferociously, moves superbly and has the best of the European technique and US aggression".
Little bit of background on the well known fighter!

Joe Calzaghe is one of my top 10 favorites.

He's undefeated in 41 fights & has given out some exciting bouts.

Im not a calzaghe hater - but neither do i think he is invicible.

A hard hitting counter puncher would give him big problems.

He likes them to come forward - Lacy was made for calzaghe style-wise.

I think winky or B-hop would beat him - Lacy would be schooled by either of them 2 aswell.

Im disappointed he has fought Ashira and now Bika - both middle weights.

He would beat clinton on workrate though..

No.... he doesnt live in england. He lives in Newport which is in Wales. also he is only half italian and was born in Uk. As hardrock rightly pointed out.

Really started taking to him recently as I managed to see alot more of his fights. Great fighter, awesome handspeed, foot movement, power, just a shame that he gets injured alot. I would also have like him to fight more A grade fighters however he may not be entirely to blame for this and HAS beaten everyone put in front of him.

He really impressed me in tha fight with Lacy because i never seen him before I just though he was some overrated guy from england, but man he laid da smack down on lacy.
Love his style he defenetly needs to fight more against good opponents he would have some goos fights.

Calzaghe showed me that he has what it takes & even though he fought many bums, the minute he fought a non-bum he still had what it takes to put it down!

i dont love him but im no jc hater...
i feel like hes only just came out and started to shine and i was thinkin yeh this guy is a big draw for the uk im thinkin he'll bring over some great fights and he had a nice little win over lacy, but since that win his head has gottenn quite big, everyone is telling me hes the real deal and no doubt he is a great fighter now but hes even worse then roy jones( i love roy no dissin to him) roy for the best part of his career fought a small handfull of great fighters and the rest were youre typical mandatory challengers, and at the end of his career he fought some great competition but after moving down form heavy it was too late, also theres excuses to be made for the lack of BIG fights fromn roy because he didnt have a big manager or promoter....
whats goin on with joe though... he has franky warren ... a big big name in the boxing world today.. and i dont think frank is applying himself as best he could!! i mean iwas so optimistic about his october defence of his title and hes facing bika?? i barely heard of the guy, hes jus a nother bum, certainly not the fight i want.... and though clinton woods is a great fighter and my man, as is glen johnson!!! these were supposed to be joe's superfight candidates?? f*ck that .
i feel its not that he cant but its just that he hasnt and doesnt look like he will have that defining spell in his career... because a young jeff lacy wont secure it...
and also notice i say young!! jeff will be back he got plenty of time and hasnt peaked yet!! if joe had of lost to jl joe would have been finished!

always been 1 of ma faves.

i got into boxing just as the benns, eubanks and collins were leaving the game and joe was the succssor

have a feeling he will retire undefeated in 2 more fights

    bika - easy win

big fight - possibly clinton, not a megafight but a quality domestic tear up with 2 world champs

if not clinton maybe we will see him bow out with a fight against a big name, i think warren would chuck him in with rjj, tarver or johnson as there all names but all easily beatable
    I'm the real pretty boy

Like you say and as do i agree clinton is not a mega fight... but clintons ibf title certianly brings credibility to joe's cause at light heavy and i think a real superfight for him would be tarver .. i mean sure he has just come off a loss to hopkins but it would be a definate step up in class for joe and i see it as a potential super fight!!
only problem bieng that tarver thinks hes greater then any other fighter and is awkward to get into the ring with money and such :P
