Default Klitschko vs. Brock: Five reasons why it's a great fight

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=8202&more=1

11.09.06 - By Dave Domenico: As of now, undefeated heavyweight contender Calvin Brock will face IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko on November 11. There were several other names mentioned as potential opponents, but Calvin Brock may prove to be the best opponent for Wladimir, after all. I have my always interesting short list of five reasons why this is a great matchup.

#1) The undefeated factor. Brock is undefeated. He is also ranked third by the IBF and is listed in the top ten in ring magazine. Being undefeated and legitimately ranked by ring magazine adds a lot of credibility as a challenger.

#2) The American versus Foreigner factor. Brock is American. There is so much pressure on American Heavyweights today to emerge as the top fighter in a division dominated by Eastern European fighters. Many people are waiting for the next great American hope. Rahman and Briggs touted themselves as saviors of the division and now undefeated Calvin Brock gets his shot as well.

#3) The class factor. Although many fight fans love the trash-talking fighters, I am a fan of the fighters who bring some class to the sport for a change. Brock and Klitschko have this in spades. Both men are respectful, educated, and bring a certain dignity to fighting which is always refreshing. What is so bad about a champion who always shows up in shape, can speak four languages and has a PHD?

#4) The Klitschko factor. Whether you are a fan of Wladimir or not, you have to admit his fights are always exciting. He has incredibly skill, yet he always seems vulnerable to being taken out. That factor alone will always make his fights interesting.

#5) The Brock factor. Is Calvin Brock the next big thing? Can he handle Klitschko’s skill and offense? Is he too green yet? Can he take a punch? Is Klitschko gonna struggle with him or knock him out? These are the questions that we all ask, and they will all be answered on November 11. I have a feeling this fight will be one to remember

really don't think Brock can beat Wlad, unless he has a repeat of the Brewster or Purrity fights, which is always possible with Wlad... If Brock landed a great punch he could KO him, I think. Having said that Brock is just not a great talent, he is a real solid guy who is very durable but Wlad should be able to keep him at the end of his punches and stop him imo.

I like #3 and #4 the most...I agree both guys are nice guys who can fight and are great people to represent a sport...Also helps detract the stereo type about fighters being un educated and thugs....
And Klitschkos fights are always exciting one way or another...IMO the guy is a great champion to have representing the flagship division of boxing...Brock would also fit that bill....

BUT BROCK IS GOING TO GET KTFO

Ref is going to let Wlad hold all night till he beats Brock. It's that simple

Wlad doesn't have to, Brock will sit in on the inside and do mostly nothing just like he did vs Ettiene and Lawrence...Wlad is best if he stays on the outside.

Also, Wlad doesn't hold as much as Ruiz or Akinwade...it's more like what Lewis did...why people have an issue with it is beyond me.

Because it looks intentional and against the rules. You can hold but he holds immediately when you're on the outside and pulls you in so you have no chance to throw, THAT is illegal. What Lennox would do is if you came in he would hold you and spin you around the other side so he could dance away, Wlad doesn't do that.

Calvin seems to be quite the underdog. But he's fought some pretty awkward guys. McCline was HUGE, Lawrence is just awkward, and Timor is from the John Ruiz school of boxing. I don't think we've seen him perform to the best of his ability yet. But I don't think Wlad is the guy where we will see his true talent shine through against.

I'm not a big fan if Klitschko,I agree with Merry,he holds alot. He;s the best of a very average bunch of heavyweights.
