Default Ibragimov The Mandatory To Liakhovich

    http://www.saddoboxing.com

It goes without saying that unbeaten Heavyweight contender Sultan Ibragimov is on the fast track to a World Championship. The only question is – who will be the first champion to fall to the Russian power hitter?

It may very well be WBO Heavyweight Champion Sergei Liakhovich, as WBO President Paco Valcarcel today informed Seminole Warriors Boxing, Ibragimov’s promoter, that the 31-year-old southpaw has been installed as the number one contender to Liakhovich’s crown.

“We’re honored that the prestigious WBO has made Sultan the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship,” said Ibragimov’s manager, Boris Grinberg. “We have a lot of respect for the champion, Liakhovich, but we also feel that he is no match for Sultan.”

The Co Promoters of Sultan Ibragimov, Seminole Warriors Boxing, Golden Boy Promotions, Golden Grain Promotions and Sampson Lewkowicz are extremely excited about the latest developments and praise the WBO for recognizing Sultan Ibragimov’s accomplishments and rewarding him with the #1 ranking and making him the mandatory challenger for Sergei Liakhovich.

Ibragimov (19-0-1, 16 KOs), a 2000 Olympic Silver medalist, has been thrilling boxing fans from the moment he stepped into the ring, most recently drawing record ratings on ESPN2 while battling with fellow contender Ray Austin in July. He is the WBO Asia-Pacific Champion with six successful title defenses to his name.

I guess that's ok...I mean Sultan really disappointed me when he didn't get Austin out of there

Jeah I was expecting more from sultan too.He had ray down in the third or something, but just wasn't able to finish it, and as the rounds went on the scales tipped in austin's favor. Perhaps sultan just isn't used to fighting men as tall as austin and next time around when he does face someone of ray's size he will have a gameplan to execute instead of just hoping that his power will be able to get the job done, because he seems to pack a nice punch, but nothing spectacular. Although if this match does happen it ought to be pretty entertaining, so jeah make it happen.

I felt the same way when I watched the fight but Austin is tougher than you think...He was only stopped once By Levin who was starting to come up at the time and has been in with better comp than eithr Sergi or Sultan

Sultan was embarassed too, believe me, he arrived to the fight at his highest weight ever...he didn't train properly, I mean not enough.

I was so sure to dispatch Austin inside 3 rounds...

Guess that next fight he'll have to train more serioulsy...but at least I consider that as unprofessional and too dangerous for a fight in the top 10

I personally like Sultan(and every other heavy fistsed heavy) but, what an alphabet organization, promoting someone to mandatory challenger after a DRAW. Then they go and rank Ray Austin, the guy he drew with at 15th

and a guy like monte barret should not be allowed to dispute WBA chamionships after a loss...

this recall my dream, one and only one sanctioning organisation, with one belt and 8 weight classes.

WBA and WBC just stink, and IBF is so corrupted...

Thats what the mistake was...Never assume your going to dispatch a guy in a few rds ....especially a vetern like Austin...Is he P4P no Is he a real top 10 guy no...But he has been around a long time and has been in with some good guys...and Ray is a pretty big guy himself....He has the experience to handle himself....Its going in for the KO and expecting your going to get it that will screw you everytime

Sergei will hopefully beat Briggs....I do want Shannon and Peter to fight each other though, that's the one and ONLY time I will cheer for Sam Peter.

Sultan is PERFECT for Sergei, Lyakhovich can box, he can take a punch and he has stamina...he seems to be very polished
