Default Evander Holyfield Why is he ranked #15 by the WBC??

I'm sure this topic has already come up a number of times. But seriously does anybody have a clue what happened here? You can tell by my avatar I'm certainly a Holyfield fan. But come on!! The guy hasn't won a fight since 2002! His performance against Larry Donald was so horrible that the NSAC took away his licence! Then he makes a comeback agianst a insurance salesmen from west Virgina and we are suppose to believe he is back 100%. And the reasons for all those losses were all injuries?? I don't know about you guys but this is huge!! This decision to rank him at 15 should be investigated to the fullest extent! And if there is any corruption found what so ever, then all parties involved should do some serious time and be banned from boxing forever!! Can I get some opinions here?

To be honest your avatar looks more like 'Smokin' Joe
    Is it really Holy?

Anyway!! This is done all the time to give the oldschool guys another shot at glory it's basically their names that get them title shots and spots on rankings....

Did Foreman deserve a shot at the WBA & IBF belts vs. Moorer?
Did ODLH deserve a shot at the WBC belt vs. Mayorga?

I think not, but it happens

Surprised? Me? No not at all.
Who do you think is willing to file an investigation against the WBC & Mr. Sulaiman?
At one point I respected the WBC the most but lately they have been doing some shady shet!! and not like they havent in the past either (Muniz vs. Napoles I) Most major bodys in boxing are just getting worst & worst the IBF, IMO takes the cake. Lets strip JMM of his belt, buts lets keep Zab as our Champ after Baldomir wooped his a$$ just cause Baldomir didn't give us our cut of the pie....

    1 reason......DON KING

He wants Holyfield to have a shot at getting another title and he will have 2 ways to do that after beating Fres Oquendo

#1 He fights Oleg Maskaev, a flawed fighter a younger or maybe a healthy Evander Holyfield could whup anyday of the week

#2 (more than likely to happen) a unification or simply just a title fight vs Nicolay Valuev

Both of those would be HUGE events...not necisarily PPV but lots of people will watch especially if he disposes of Oquendo easily

CAUSE IT'S THE WBC MAN!!!!!!......hell I wouldn't be suprised that if he beats Oquendo they don't name him interim champ....Still after all these years I don't understand exactly what the hell an Interim champion is...I mean I know what it is but WHY!!!!!

I was a big fan. He has done a lot of things for boxing, however I thought losing to John Ruiz should have been a sure sign of retirement. He is a legend so giving him one bad loss perhaps the loss to Chris Byrd should have been another sign. For the sake of his legacy I wish he would retire.

I am 50/50 about Holyfields return to the ring....First I am most concerened for his health...Like mentioned by some of you above...The losses that piled up towards the end of his last retirement/Hiatus whatever you want to call it.....

If he is telling the truth though and a lot of it had to do with his shoulder then IMO he may pull it off....

A Holyfield who is even 60% of his prime self can beat any of the current champions with the exception on Wlad

60% of a prime Holyfield couldnt beat any of the top 10 heavyweights of today. Come on bro I know its cool to bash the heavys of today but theres a reason why they are the champions. I would honestly give a prime Wlad a really good chance against a prime Holyfield, possibly even Valuev due to the size difference. And we dont know much about Lyakovich yet.

i think lyakovich is one of the best of the champs. and prime holyfield would box wlad's head off. prime holy was light years above the heavyweight champs of today if you ask me. wlad's no where near classy enough to last with a prime holyfield. wlad is tough but holyfield was tougher.

Sorry I originally wrote this post on another site then copied it to this site. On the other site I have a holyfield avatar. Anyways I understand the whole thing about Holyfield having a name and being a all time great and blah blah blah. But the fact is he was embarrassed by Larry Donald and that performance was so awfull that his license was taken away. George Foreman at 45 never had a performance that bad. Now if Holyfield got a title shot that is a whole different story, because almost anybody can get a title shot. A champion does not always have to fight a mandatory. A title shot does not always have to be earned, that is a fact. Giving Holyfield a undeserved title shot is one thing, but giving him a #15 ranking is another.Because a ranking you have to earn and a title shot you don't always have too earn. Now I know this type of sh*t happens in boxing all the time. And I"m sure you and everybody else can give me 100 examples in which fighters got undeserved rankings and undeserved title shots. I know this. But in this particular case I think they really need to investigate who excatly was paid off to give Holyfield such a underserved ranking. Because all Suliman is doing now is taking up a ranking that a new up and comer deserves. This is yet another example of why boxing is going down the tubes. Somebody really needs to clear this sh*t up!!
